duckapuck
As the title states, what is the best Sundown subwoofer for a variety of music? I've heard the SA 8" v1 in a ported box and was pretty impressed by its ability to handle all types of music and get plenty low doing it. Is that as good as it gets for Sundown? Thanks in advance for anyone's input. Edited August 10, 2013 by duckapuck
hdorre
No matter how you look at it.. there isnt a clear cut "best" Sundown driver. I do know however, that my SA8v1.5s do a damn good job playing all different types of music. If you dont cut corners on the install, I believe that any of their drivers will sound great. Ive heard SA8 v1s, v2, E8s, and Nightshades (I think v2s).. and they all sounded awesome. Then again, Im sure they were in good boxes. 1 On 5/8/2011 at 7:38 PM, Kranny said: On 5/8/2011 at 7:35 PM, 'Maxim' said: It hurts me inside when I read stuff like this and remember you're 15 LMFAO so true Mitsubishi 3000GT (Old Build) Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: (2) McLaren Audio MLT-2 Tweeters & (4) PRV Audio MR Series Neo 6.5" Mids Substage: 4 15" Hybrid Subs - Tantric Motors & Sundown Softies Amps: Banda 2.4D Amp (Tweets), American Bass VFL 350.4 (Mids), and (2) Ampere 3800s Electrical :Singer 260A Alt & JY Power Lithium 2005 Chevy Colorado Ext Cab Headunit: Pioneer 80PRS Frontstage: 4 PRV 700Ti Tweets & 6 10" Delta Mids on 3000wrms Substage: 6 Fi BTL 18s in a 4th Order Walkthrough on 3 Wolfram 4500s Electrical: Singer "390" and JY Power My Official Feedback Thread
Hellbilly429
The reason the SA series hasn't undergone a transformation like the other lines is because Jacob hasn't been able to improve on the output of the SA without sacrificing it's SQ and musical abilities. Don't get me wrong, all the other Sundown series probably sound great, but I know the SA series is the one Jacob won't sacrifice sq for spl 1 2018 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback (build in progress) NVX Sound Deadener (Front Doors) Stinger FAST Rings Stock Electrical SSA Evil 6.5's Front Speakers Stock rear speakers MB Quart ONX4.80 speaker amp Rockford Fosgate T-1500bdcp DC Level 4 12" D1 @ 2-ohm Box In Design Stage Stock RadioMy Build Log

Nightshade
I've owned several Nightshades with many different custom options that Jake wanted me to try out and see how they performed. I've also owned a couple variety of sa woofers. Imo the sa is the better sounding out of the two. To be specific the sa with the higher roll surround and stitched surround is the best sounding Sundown woofer that I've owned. However, as its been previously stated 95% of the sq comes out of the box. The current box I have for two sa12s happens to sound better than all of my previous. One reason is because of the grade of birch I used and the other is a very good ratio of port area to box volume. 1 2013 VW Jetta GLI 2.0 Turbo 1 Sundown Audio SCV2000 1 Sundown Audio X15 V2 1 XS Power D3100 Audio Control LC6i Stock Deck 146.4 sealed on the dash at 37hz 2001 Focus ZX3: RETIRED Team Sundown Audio, Team XS Power, 2 time NSPL Car 3601-Up Champion, 2 time NSPL Car Hardcore ChampionHighest NSPL Scores to date:154.3db on the dash sealed at 46hz, 156.2db in the kick at 46hz155.2db unofficial on dash at 43hz
