Nishinga
I got 1 battery under the hood, and 2 batteries in the back and am going to put all my power and grounds to bus bars to make things easier. (the bus bars are not attached to the top of the batteries in the back) I got the power from the front to the back fused in the front and plan on fusing it in the back going to the bus bars. For the batteries in the back, does there need to be a fuse between the battery and the bus bar or the bus bar and the amp, or both. Also for future reference, fuse between alt and front battery necessary? or am I just going over board with fuses. Thanks for the help!
BassMunky
no more fuses better, unless you gong for number than no fuse at all. Resistance with fusing. mmets
I am not 100% sure but was told that you don't need to fuse from alt to front battery. from front to back yes. I was planning on putting a fuse from the alt to the battery but am not now. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/177477-slowboring-07-trailblazer-build/Pioneer DEH-80PRSPRV 8MR400-NDY (eight) PRV TW350Ti (6)Sky High 1/0 OFC, 12 gauge and 8 gaugeTM Metalworkz battery terminals 120 sqft HushmatXS Power D3100 (6)Singer 350 Amp Alt Singer 320 (2)American Bass SQL3200 JL Audio JX360/4 Crossfire XS 8K (2) DC Audio XL 15s (6)
MrSkippyJ
I don't understand the theory behind not fusing the alt to battery wire. MrSkippyJ
Yeah I did too. I just don't understand why some people choose not too. I'm not saying they are wrong, just saying I don't understand it. HHR Ed
To be completely safe, you should fuse anytime you split wire or change wire size as well as anytime wire exits a power source. Going by that, you should fuse between batts and buss bar, and between buss bar and amps. Also, between batt and alt. But of course it is all up to how far you want to go with protection. MrSkippyJ
Yeah I get that. But you rarely see anyone contradicting other fuses. I just feel like I am missing something or don't understand something. kingsuv
Any wire that is connected to a battery should be fused with in 18" I always say the closer the better. People who say fuses aren't need are asking for trouble. Don't be stupid. Fuse yer shit. Designing, building, and shipping boxes. I mean the first minute is ok but that thing just really starts digging deeper and deeper in your earhole till you cant stand it no more. Seems like it does it with relative ease....16 12's on 8 amps.........gotta love it.
