CleanSierra
Smoove, I'm still out of town but will be coming back Tuesday I believe. I can help you through this. 3M makes those flexible sanding blocks, that are about a quarter inch thick. That make a black and gray one. 3000 grit has been out for quite some time. You REALLY REALLY need to watch your extra, as previously said, to avoid burning through it with either sanding or the buffer. Did you get down to 800 grit on the primer layer before laying the white? Any scratches you had in the primer could come through to the paint layer. You're definitely on the right path and I think it's going to come out very well. P.S. I'm glad Danny came clean and told you his was done with auto paint. It works have been hilarious if he'd let you think it was rattle canned Anyways, I'll hit you up when I get back to town and maybe I can come over and supervise with a Coors light in one hand. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
CleanSierra
Also, the metallic is in the port, getting a buffer to it will be pretty impossible. If you've sanded down to 800 before the last coats, it should be enough to eliminate scratches. You shouldn't see any problems down that dark port as long as you're sanded down enough Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. CortezDTV
3000 sand paper is typically a tyvec pad I wouldn't be sanding anything that I spray painted with more than 1000. Even that is a little much you will take the clear off every time and you will always have to re spray over it for the best result When u spray paint I got 1500 2000 then tyvec pad 1000 will take the paint off if your not safe SCSB Santa Cruz Speaker Box Build logs: Daily Driver Lemon Marquis 2 american bass 750.1s 350.4 on 14 focal 6.5s sq 945 on 4 hertz tweeters Mystery subs http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 The Mustang 'dubbed' Shirley the project from bullet holes to badass http://www.stevemead...cond-skin-time/
oldsoundguy
Good looking box. Be carefully with the water on the inside of the box if the wood isn't sealed or painted. CleanSierra
Just a little FYI for you, notebook paper is around 3000-3500 grit. I've seen guys going for that extra bit of flatness, sand with notebook paper. The problem with it, is that it doesn't hold up and will fall apart after being wet for too long. A buffer will do just fine though as it melts down that top layer flat. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
AMI CUSTOMS
pretty much what everyone is saying, wet sand, buff wax, electric or air pneumatic buffer will greatly speed up the process.
