Brandon Schaffner Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 Im wanting to try out a very short ( under 6 inches) run of solid copper leads to the power grand, rem and all the speaker out puts on my amp. (see pic) Will this work? Ive seen it done before with the leads to subwoofers but not with the power wire / grand to am amp. Each of the solid wires goes to a barrier strip that will connect to the DIYMA 12 ga speaker wire , and the power wire will like wise connect to Knukonsepts 4ga power ground wire. Any thoughts on weather this will be a good idea. I love the way it looks. The amp is a Memphis Big belle 5 ch. Runing 4ohms all the way around. oldsoundguy Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 Hmm never seen that but I am with nate about the exposed copper. Emmet Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 N8 had it. It's doable, just be prepared to spend quite a bit of time making it pretty. Symmetry is needed or it just looks shabby. i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah.. You want this to happen to you? 2loud4uboyz Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 Looks cool. But like said it would give me the spooks . The thought of something touching the power and ground @ the same time or speaker out put while playing. but I'm o.c.d . Car audio is do what you like and be safe about what you do. And have fun while doing it.
Brandon Schaffner Posted February 18, 2014 Author Report Posted February 18, 2014 True Im thinking about building a jig to bend the copper or maybe using a small tubbing bender like you would use in SS breaks. As far as Insulation I was considering Clear Plasti dip, but I'm not sure I love the look of the metal. The leads don't move around in the install at all . I also thought about maybe some plead or black plexi to hold them in place like you do with spark plug wires. Link to My current build 07 mustang / JL, Memphis Big Belle
Skullz Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 Quite doable if you take your time to make it look right, but what others have said about exposed power wiring, i would cover the power leads with clear pvc as a way to protect them from contact and shorting out and starting a fire. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Chris Hammer Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 Put some epoxy on it or something clear. Do a good job doing the bends to match and it will look sick. How will you efreftively attach 4ga to the solid copper thats what I want to see.
