classic100% Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Does fiberglassing the inside or outside of a subwoofer enclosure have any benefits?
Pioneerchuck Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Strength is the main benefit of fiber glassing the box. and it seals up any areas where air might be able to leak out.
_paralyzed_ Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Well, people resin the inside of boxes because they think the smoother surface helps air move. I'm pretty sure it doesn't make a damn bit of difference, but everyone here seems to do it. Fiberglassing the outside could add rigidity, but it would take a LOT OF fiberglass. Flat fiberglass isn't that rigid.
classic100% Posted February 24, 2014 Author Report Posted February 24, 2014 So nothing to do with sound and loudness...
classic100% Posted February 25, 2014 Author Report Posted February 25, 2014 At what point should a box be fiberglassed?
n8ball2013 Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 Resin itself adds no strength. Resin with clot or mat will become very strong. I may and resin all my seams when doing big power. Basically anything that wools require double baffles.
