I got questions about amps what ones to use. Mostly the amp for my speakers put 4 alpine sps-406 in stock locations on my c1500. Going to put two lpg 26na dome tweeters on the a- pillar. I don't know what kind of amp how many watts is needed, and how to wire speakers to amp. Also have a kicker kx3 active crossover to go in the mix.

Can I use one amp to power all four speakers and two tweeters. Would I get a four channel amp and wire the two tweeters with the front speakers, are would I have to run a separate amp for tweeters. How many watts would the amp(s) have to be if speakers are 45 watts rms and tweets are 80 watt. I'm wanting a decent sounding system with a medium budget. Thanks Any help is appreciated!

You can do what you are asking but it will create a uneven ohm load across the amp heat sink running two 4 ohm speakers in parallel would be 2 ohms up front and 4 ohm on the back channels. I try to avoid that. You also want to get an amp close to the rms of your speakers if you don't have a lot of experience tuning.

IMO the best option would be to get a comp set up front as it will help widen the sound stage and give you a better sound. You will eventually want to do this. If the money isn't there we all understand that.

Another option would be to get a 4 channel amp for your mids and run your tweeters off the head unit. Some other more seasoned members might have a better suggestion for you. Good luck lots of good amps out there read up and take your pic.

Greetings from Syracuse, NY, USA ... You will find nearly everyone here in SMD friendly & open about their knowledge on many a topic. Peek around a bit & you will easily pick up on a few rules - both written, & unwritten.

Why do you avoid this, and what does it affect?

Pushes you close to clipping faster. Probably my fault but I've blown a tweeter on my Diamond D1 mids when I had it wired in parallel with my tweeters. Not saying it wasn't my fault but wiring 4 ohm per channel give you more buffer and room for error.
