How did you get into car audio?

Just curious to see how everyone got into car audio.

Personally, i dont know how exactly but i found EXO on youtube and started watching his videos around 2 years ago maybe.

ive always been into audio just never really thought about car audio in the way i do now. Everything really started about 3 months ish or so ago when i bought a sub and an amp w/ a box for 60$ off a friend. i was pretty excited so i went to walmart and got a 500w wiring kit haha. went home hooked everything up like it should be and the sub wasnt working, i was checking everything and couldnt find the issue so i smelled the sub because i know its one of the ways to see if a speaker is blown, not always but sometimes. it absolutely reeked i didnt smell it before because it was in the box and it was sealed and i also dont have the best nose when it comes to smelling lol. so i was pretty mad i had spent like 3 hours running the wires and hooking everything up and trying to find out why the sub wasnt working. ( i was pretty mad) so i just went to best buy and bought a kicker comp r 12" which is my current sub and hooked it up and started bumping sweet bass. from that moment on i was hooked! a few weeks later i wanted to get louder but was debating on spending the money for a new amp , wiring etc. so i just went ahead and bought some MDF for a box because i figured, well if this doesnt work its only 35$ and not that big of a strain on the pocket so i might as well. took me forever to put that box togeather i was so impatient but it threw the sub in it anyway and at first i didnt think it was any louder but once i started playing different songs i really started to hear and feel the difference. I could feel the lows vibrating everything and it just sounded deeper and louder. This is when i truly got hooked. even though its only been a few months i just cant belive how deep i am into it already. bought a new amp and wiring like a week ago and got it all hooked up. yesterday i ordered more 0 gauge and components for everything that i need and im like 600$ deep i think not sure but around that ammount, it may not be much but ive only had one job and that was like 4 months just about ( nearly when i started the whole build and such) i quit my job because it was just ridiculous with the hours but yeah. sorry for the long post and if you made it this far good job (; im just intersted to see how everyone got started on car audio / audio in general and what you had for your first build!

Was really into home/computer sound setups. Started watching Youtube and seen some of meades videos. It escalated from there. Got my first car and got a friend to install a cheap setup and got hooked. Always wanting more.

its more than a simple addiction...its worse than drugs..sometimes pricey, but worth every peny and time after you get things done the right way..
