Noob test: How many of you think a modern battery can be discharged from sitting on concrete?

Im sooo confused. are ppl arguing concrete or sitting drains a bat? I would agree that concrete has nothing to do with anything. And Ive only let wet cells sit for long periods of time, and YES THEY DRAIN. Not like the earth absorbing the energy or any stupid, but idk the acid inside becomes weak or w.e and the specific gravity of the cells gets a bit off. Especially in the elements. I took my wet cell outta my monte it was like a year old, put in a d3400. The batt was in fine shape. The batt sit for like a year on the floor in a garage. When I sold the car, I charged it up some, put in the car.. It was dead wouldnt even crank even after 24 hours on trickle. So something happened.

Its not like I can charge a wet cell up to 12.8v leave it sit for a year and still read 12.8v because it wont. Ive done it. But I did open em up, top em off, check the gravity, give em a charge and they turned right around and work great.

AGM batts I have no idea. All ive ever owned is the two batts below and they been in a car their whole lives. My friend has had an xp2000 sitting in the garage for a few months at least and while I havent metered it or anything, we use it off an on for testing things load tested it to like 300a a few times even and it seems fine. So maybe AGM is different.

Wet cells for sure sitting isnt good. Especially in a cold drafty garage for a year no doubt.

I always heard the whole *sitting on concrete is bad for batteries* stuff too. Never knew why or never knew anyone to prove or disprove it. Always avoided it anyways. Nice to know it doesn't matter though.

AGM batteries absolutely drain just sitting too. That's what "intelli" or "smart" chargers are for. They detect the drain and re-peak the battery.

Snow may have already answered that.

I have a very scientific answer.

If you leave a battery, on a piece of cement,..... in time, it will loose draw.
