I have done pretty much everything myself and I'm open about what I've failed on and what I've had others do for me.

Toolmaker did my aluminum panel around my subs and a local upholstery shop did the vinyl wrap around the fiberglass trim around my baffle.

Other then that, its pretty much me...

Some of my vinyl wrapping skills need quite a bit of practice....LOL

I grew up in the late 80's / early 90's so I am hugely driven by all the fantastic installs back then.

I'd love to see audio move back in that direction where everybody did their best to have a clean and nice install on top of being loud.

This forum and SOTM are doing a lot to bring that trend back.

What these NOOBS don't understand is we have had several contests where their was a wattage or woofer size limit. I even had several free for all's. The ONLY requirement was you have a car with the most basic of basic systems and we STILL drew winners (in other words no vote just pure random drawing). So we have big, small and free-for all. But people still FUCKING BITCH. Forget the fact the prize was supposed to be just from CT Sounds but at the last minute i shelled out $50 then $100 for 2nd and 3rd from my own wallet. Many Many times i have gone all the way to FIFTH so everyone has a good chance. I even took it all the way to 8th once. With under 30 contestants, if you can't make it to fifth place, then maybe you should put your work in. I love how people complain and always "suggest" how we should do this. I have a suggetion, forget about tens of thousands of dollars in prizes and cash each year, maybe i should just give away stickers and maybe a hat.

On a side note...For those that play nice and never complain, thank you! For YOU, we will do this again. Sorry for the rant, i am so annoyed by the ungrateful. They truly ruin it for everyone.

I had 3 10" lvl 3 one red, one silver, one blue (merica) on an saz 1500 at .6667 ohm. in the trunk of my sebring doing low to mid 140's and all i got was open the port up. I had it tuned low for daily not comps.

I won, wide open no restrictions, with less than 2k watts and only 2 12s. It can be done just fine.

one of SEVERAL who have. Even a very large system CAN'T (automatically) win if he has a terrible install. When i look at a build i don't look at the size i look at the details. It's never "20 18's, he has it in the bag"...NEVER.

If the install is CLEAN and well done with lots of detailed pics, then I don't care what equipment you're running, I'll vote for you every time.

Doesn't matter if its a trunk with two 10's or an SUV with twelve 15's.

i know i know I was just pointing out that you were a good example....i think at least 3 people (former winners) in this thread alone are chiming in about not having the largest or craziest system.

I placed one time with a $500 build. You people whining about not having money are really shitting on this contest. Being a fucking crybaby won't make me ever vote for you.

It's the time and effort in the build that makes it SOTM worthy. Many have won with less than a grand in their build but put a shit ton of effort into it.

Wicks was definitely worthy with all the cool tricks he pulled off with simple switches and relays, and that's what wins people over.
