OrionStang Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 So, i'll have 2 6.5s in each door, wired together for a 2 ohm load. My question is: will there be an audible difference between running one speaker wire, then jumping from the first speaker to the next, Or running two speaker wires, one to each speaker and both meeting at the amp? Hope that makes sense to you guys, ill do a sketchup if need be. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
SnowDrifter Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 What gauge wire are you using and how much power? Main thing you'd need to worry about is voltage drop through the wire. But unless you're wiring with 22ga I doubt it. Given the lengths of wires we're talking about I confident in saying that signal speed though the wire can be ignored. Biggest thing is using adequate wire so one side doesn't sound quieter than the other ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
OrionStang Posted February 6, 2015 Author Report Posted February 6, 2015 12g SHCA wire, amp is rated 350x2 @ 2 ohms, so 175w per speaker. Also, I plan on cutting the wires the same length to each door. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

SnowDrifter Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 Ahh. From a wire management perspective the first option would be easier. As far as a performance difference between the two, only way you'd notice is if the wire is inadequate anyways This is a pretty nifty calculator for figuring out what size wire you should run http://www.electrovoice.com/cableloss.php Edit: Here's a more user friendly one ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
OrionStang Posted February 6, 2015 Author Report Posted February 6, 2015 Its more than enough wire for the power and length, I think. Thanks for the links! SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread

bcbrassard Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 When i finish my doors in the spring option 1 was how i planned to run them. T400-2 in 2ohm to 2 sets of T265 mid drivers. RF 12 awg ofc wire.
bighossf150 Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 My doors are wired like the top pic, 300w per channel to 4 6.5"s on shca 14ga Used to have a loud truck 2009 Corvette Z06, H/C/I, 150 shot, g force tune, 730rwhp/690rwtq 2013 F-150 limited, MPT Tune, leveled on 35"s
White Lightning Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 If you are running at a 2 ohm stereo load, and have adequate wire grade, then there should be no problem setting up your wiring configuration within the door panel (option 1) and running a single wire (per side of the vehicle) to the amplifier. Wish you would have a single 8" driver at a 4 ohm load setup, But that's just me ...
