agm battery chargers

Recommended Posts

I got the noco 3500 in my garage currently.
I used it mostly to keep a trickle charge on my single d3400 2 winters ago.

Now it sits on a stinger spv70 for my garage stereo which is just a 4channel and a headunit and takes about 7 hours to charge the battery resting at 11.2volts :(

Its good for about a d3400 sized battery decently, it claims 120ah iirc but it took forever to just charge a d3100 of mine.

Ideally Id say you would want at least 5amps to charge a group 31.

The ctek 4.3 is a little stronger than the noco 3500 $85
It claims 110ah, but up to 160ah for maintenance.

Ctek 7002 $124

Mechman $149

XS Power HF1215 $199
These are discontinued, can sometimes be found a bit cheaper if you search.

The new XS Power intellecharger $199

Id say the Noco 7200 for $90 would be your best bet unless you want to spend more

Id probably stay away from the kinetik style battery chargers as well since they are rebadged schumacher, not sure about the kinetik power supply style chargers though.

the more reviews i read the more i become unsure about non xs power chargers, while the ctek and noco have way more reviews and a way higher positive ratio of reviews, theres still like 40 or so reviews of people saying it doesnt fully charge or ruined new batteries, did they just get a lemon or whats going on?

Look into Griot's garage chargers. I like the charge profile even more than i do the XS one.

The Schumacher XC10-CA appears to be the cheapest 10amp charger available, guess ill go with that

why am i seeing so many reviews about it not shutting off and frying batteries though? this is why i asked this question here in the 1st place

No no no no no no no STAY AWAY from that.

I used to have a schumacher charger... POS overcharging batteries. 15.7v on a 12v battery and it was bubbling. It'll fry your AGMs in no time

I run a Noco genius g3500

no complaints

im seeing this up for $60, what size batteries do you use this for?

I use mine for general purpose charging and maintaining. It gets used on my Corvette ( AC Delco Battery) and my Daily driver. For the stereo it gets used on Remy(Deka) 9A34m's

Its rated at 55ah, 775CCA

The only reason I got it was becuase my neighbor gave me a $25 gift card to menards and it was the biggest they had. If you can swing it and like already stated, get the 7200 at minimum. If your looking at this from a dedicated frequent top off charger for multiple batteries the 3500 wont cut it

Rolex you sicken me.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have 155 AH batteries and actually live close to griots garage, would I be safe with their charger? I would honestly like to charge all four at once just to top off during weekends, (700 AH total) Maybe im being impractical. I am quite often...

This one supposed to be awesome

You can walk into Menards and grab the Noco 3500 off the shelf....

I use the Noco 7200, ordered it online for 90 bucks, same as AudioFanaticsz linked above, love it so far.

I use 10 XS power batteries (8 of which are group 31's) so it would take forever to bring them all up. I mainly use mine as a maintainer. Like after using my vehicle throw this thing on until I drive it again. Even if I drive it every day type of thing. I think for my purposes it works fine, it's on the small side but since I don't let batteries get low it's not really an issue for me.
