square subwoofers

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but just because there is more surface area, does not mean there are lower notes being hit. Like saying a single 10 is louder than a single 15. So, having a square woofer with "more surface area" won't give OP "lower notes."

I don't KNOW this to be fact, but it makes sense to me. Any input?

More cone area from a square sub doesn't make it handle lower notes better. Again, square subs was a gimmic. Its called tuning and power capabilities at that tuning. And stuff like cabin space and many other things play a factor.

Yeah. That's my point though...I think the "15s and 18s are the only way to get good lows" theory is a bit widespread and rampant. The surface area of the speaker really has little; if anything, to do with the "low notes." Regardless of being a square, a hexagon, or a balbis. Shape and surface area seem to be a mythical fix to getting the lows.

Virtually NO ONE plays with square subs. They are a joke IMO thats why you see everyone with 15" 18" in comps with round subs..... Square subs are an odd out of the box idea and good luck if you need to recone one.

Let's all remember that loud is a relative term, when someone says they want it loud they mean their opinion of loud which could be a lot quieter than what most of us around here would call loud.

Now that being said if you want to do 150+ dbs at 30 hz and under then you for sure are going to need lots of cone area and tons of power.

That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
