UPDATE: NEW DD?! dedicated audio vehicle

5/5/2016 UPDATE: So instead of buying a vehicle for audio I think it may be easier and cheaper to find a DD for cheap cheap to buy since my Tahoe is already a nice platform to work with for audio, all that work and money putting shit tons of sound deadeners, interior removal, wires ran, HU, etc. etc. It's basically done and ready for a build............ANYWAY, looking around for a cheap cheap DD, a guy at work, that I went to highschool with has this posted

"1999 Acura CL, good for first time driver. 2.3 Liter Vtec with a five speed manual transmission, has 172,XXX miles, runs and drives great. Has newer tires, new battery, alternator, fuel pump, and new CD player. $2,200 OBO"

Depending if it's decent or not I was thinking of offering him $1500 depending on condition, and after a test drive of course. Thoughts?! (obviously it depends on condition and if/what is wrong with it) I have known this guy since kids, he usually has like 5 nice vehicles he drives around, Built GTO, custom conversion van, new full size Jeep SUV, etc. so he is kind of a car guy or whatever you want to call him, not a mechanic per-say but into automobiles...

4/30/2016 A couple I have looked at but seem priced high, what would you guys pay?.......

I had a 1995 Astro van in 2001+ with 12 crossfire BMF 12's, 4 component sets (2 at 6.5" and 2 at 5.25"), 4 - 8" mids, 9 crossfire BMF amps, 7 batteries (signed by Alma gates), 1 HO Ohio Gen alt, air bags, etc. etc. but mine was all black AWD van with B-pillar wall so this first one being the same year and same color interior is very tempting to be honest....sucks having to work on engine through doghouse though

a buddy bought a '95 burban for either $600 or $800. The interior was mint, with the exception of the seat bolsters. Runs and drives fine.

4 weeks after he purchased it, a 6th order wall for 8 15s was finished lol

Whatever it is it should be a Chevy or gm with the v8. Structurally the most sound. Has the most room and gets loud easy. The Astros struggle with the lack of multiple alt options.

They tend to last forever too with minimal maintaince cost.

Good luck on the search

I'm going back to a 94 Chevy Silverado without the third door.

Mostly Sound Quality ... But you get my point here.

Thanks all! Yes, the alt situation in the Astro sucks, Ideally I would like a 2004 Suburban clean inside and out with low miles and dirt cheap, of course and can't have what I want but you get the point, lol. Not even looking to do some massive 8 - 15" build or anything but being restricted to behind the rear seat of this year Tahoe and I got about no room to play with.

See what I mean though, click the link, everything is old and with high miles and people still want an arm and leg for them, it's nuts, I dont want to spend 5k on a hunk of shit..........

x2 on a GM fullsize. can stack tons of alts, nice door panels, easy to build in. can find high mileage suburbans with crapped out 4l60e's pretty cheap. $500 for another 60e... Can have a giant fullsize that you can stack like 4-6 alts on or whatever for less than $2k pretty easy.

Yea, I am thinking full size also. A guy has to look around for a while though because right now even though it's spring everyone want to sell their 200k miles 4x4 for 4-5k and that is just fucking dumb considering they are 15 yrs. old
