Sundown SA‐12D4 good for daily driver?

I'm thinking of using two of these in a sealed box wired in series running 800 watts rms, tuned with the DD-1. I'd like something that sounds good and gets really loud. Car is a Civic Coupe. These are to replace two Infinity 120.9s that I thought sounded really good but did not have the volume that kid is looking for.

Hearing your goals I wonder - why not a ported box with the SA-12s? The next question is - what Ohm load are you going for final? With those subs you could wire to 1 Ohm, which makes providing power quite cheap. Lots of options that will do 1000ish at 1 Ohm.

Yeah, you definitely want to look at getting a ported box for the SA-12's. If you don't all ready have a amplifier, I'd recommend looking at something in the 1000-1500w range for a pair of those SA-12's.

If u don't have the room for ported sealed will be fine but those subs can handle way more power , I'm runing around 1k per SA-10 in a sealed box and they love it.

Room is a factor when considering sealed vs ported, but a true rookie consideration on my part is wondering if using a ported box will degrade the sound to where it doesn't sound good, just gets loud. Am I being ridiculous? I realize that more than likely I am, but I don't have any experience to rely upon.

a properly designed ported box will sound really good, no need to worry about that.

im running only one ported on about 1200rms and its enough for me as a Daily... others cant even stand to sit inside while its pumping..

If you're looking to stay sealed, check out Sundown's SD line. they are more so for sealed boxes and will like the lower power more. But you can't go wrong with the SA series. Such a versatile driver.

I'm assuming that the ported box will play noticeably louder? SPL with decent SQ is where he wants to be.

Ported just leaves sealed out of business when it comes to output and low end extension, try the infinitys you have in ported and you'll see.
