when it comes to sound deadening material, you want to go with dynamat extreme. Other products that work jsut as well, usually are bulkier or don't stick, although they are cheaper.

What you should do is either take the chance and buy it on ebay, or you can find someone who works at best buy and have them get it. Back when i worked there I got enough for 3 layers on my headliner (97 blazer) and one layer on all doors and three layers on tailgate all for $120!!!

so if ya know someone who works there get them to get it.

but either way get something because it'll make a huge huge difference, especially if you have an suv type vehicle which has a lot of tinny surfaces.... a lot of euro or foriegn cars seem to be built with more cross support beams or w/e and they have less tinny areas to vibrate.

I beg to differ. I've used Dynamat Extreme, and it is a great product no doubt about it. But these other options are just as effective, well, maybe not peal and seal, but if i do use that I'll double layer it. I haven't seen an adequate review on that stuff, so if I do it I'll let you guys know how it works.

there are some good alternatives, don't jsut listen to anyone though.... a lot of people say that you can buy some roofing crap from home depot, and i know first hand that does not work.

X2, Iv never used any other brands besides dynamat extreme and fatmat so I cant compare them to any other brands... If you know someone that works at best buy, then look into the dynamat since they get something like a 40% discount on anything in the store. Even on ebay Dynamat is sold for $130 for their 36sq ft bulk pack, I spend something like $400 to cover my last car using it from there. Iv also done an entire vehicle with fatmats 100sq ft, it isnt bulky nor does it have any problem sticking at all when done right and it makes a BIG diff.... I stand by my point, dynamat is over priced. Im not knocking dynamat, they are a very good product but why spend that much when there are other brands that work just as well for a fraction of the cost?

I use Raammat BXT. Raammat has excellent customer service and Rick is a great guy to talk to. Affordable deadener and it adheres very well.

yes dynamat helps, my friend had a cavi with 2 10 inch q powers in there and a 265 rms amp, and hit a 145 on the ac mic. his whole trunk was dynamatted.

also, i tested my old car without the mat, then put it on and went and got tested again. i gained a little bit and the rattling went down a lot.

Sound deadening can help in other ways to. let me list a bunch of major issues which it helps.

pros:

-Road noise (road noise would be my biggest pet peeve, i still to this day havent got around to deadening my car for road noise )

- Rattling & panel vibrations

- helps Resonate the bass cleanly (no echos and whatnot)

- Comfortable ride

cons:

- can be cost effective to do the whole car properly

- You may have trouble putting door panels, panels, or carpeting back on since there will be a slight "rise" or "lift" due to the added material.

Peel and seal ain't bad shit man.............Used that and peel and seal before. SS worked AMAZINGLY WELL

PandS not so much............3 layers to be really effective.

And BTW the main idea behind deadoning is to add mass making it harder for panels or surfaces to resonate.

I use Fort-O-Flash, A little different then the roofing stuff you can get at HD. It's a window flashing product you stick on before you stucco around windows. Much better to work with. made a huge difference in my truck. Just as good as the other sound deadners.
