I love how they're still being called magic dust amps after being on the market and proven for so long. My stetsom was pushing 4 15s and guess what?! All 16 tinsel leads looked the same as the day I bought em.

I have rf amps now. One being the t1500 and one being the p1000. I love them both. But I am actually looking at stetsom for my next setup. I mean the amount of money I'd have to spend on amps for two rf t1500s would be between 1000-1600. Depending if I bought online of rf retailer. As a brandnew stetsom 7k-10k cost less then 1500.

Allthough I'd like to run all rf amps it is just to expensive to run three t1500s. And not even that but if I change my setup to add a 4tb 18. K will need to add another 750. Where my stetsom will be able to take 4 18"s.

For power at or around 2-2.5k or under go with rf. For over that go stetsom

i think the problem with stetsom is how there designed to make power..they burn leads because of the current used to make power and how it does it.the rockford is convential..if that makes sense...

so 420 vs 500 bucks, and stetsom will still do more power...

Don't know if they will do more power, but the stetsom amps handle more abuse then the RF amps.

Stetsom won't burn any tinsel leads if the gain is set proper.

Stetsom amps use something like a SNMPS power supply, and that has been proven in PA amps.

And how would current used by the amp to make power have something to do with the power going thru the tinsel leads?

To the OP, i would just choose the one you think looks best and has a good price.

(that's why i would go with the RF, or i could powdercoat the stetsom to make it look better. )

I don't see the problem with the looks of Stetsom, simple and bulletproof. I actually think the rf's are ugly with that plastic fin 3/4 of the way around it, displays look cool, though.

Back to how both amps make power. What is bad about how Stetsom makes power compared to RF? Stetsom amps seem to have better effeciancy ratings, so wouldnt that mean they will draw less amps to put out the same wattage?

Just wanted to point out, Derrick, that unless you cranked the gain all the way up, which I know you wouldn't do, you're not going to blow three Level 5s off 7k (before voltage drop and imp rise).

even if stetsom really does have the lead fryin. I've heard its only in the bigger amps. like the 6k and up, so the 1500 shouldnt even have that problem.

you could ditch both though, and go sundown to just avoid the whole argument though.

i find it funny how people call stetsom amps cheap when they actually use better parts than most amps. if it couldnt do the job it wouldnt. and the thing about the tinsels, i would like to read the thread/article about this since the people sayin it obviously have references to it if they can bring it up
