  1. Looking forward to seeing the new Sundown Audio Nightshades v4's. Less weight ftw!

  2. I wonder if Fi Audio will have a tax return sale :)

  3. My rear backdoor panel is making a weird wood cracking flex sound on certain bass drops (It goes away if I push against the door panel). I'm going have to Second Skin Damp Pro that back door even though they don't have speakers in them. Wtf mane.

wait, you have a build? maybe im confusing you with someone else.

      moh.vze.com

Same build since 2012. Just upgrading electrical and front speakers over the years. Dc audio. I never really posted my build into one thread though

  4. I think my system sounds louder with windows rolled up... this is strange. There was also a song I played that made it just a little hard to breath with windows rolled up.

  5. Sub faced towards rear trunk lid with no rear speakers... feeling more air flow above my head with windows rolled up (also louder than when I had it fired into the cabin with windows rolled up).

Gonna test it with windows rolled down tomorrow to see if it gets even louder.

  6. Took me a good half hour trying to get my damn Hybrid Audio Speaker Grills attached to the 6.5" speakers... Why these things so hard to put on?

  7. Is it bad idea to TechFlex both power and ground wire together? They're only 4 Gauge wire so I figured I put them into 1 tech flex run...

      06RTCharger

Yah i dont see an issue. You were gonna put them in separate techflex sleeves anyway and lay them right next to eachother. I dont see how thats different from putting both together in one over sized sleeve. Then again i dont know much about this lol.

  8. Freaken USPS hasn't delivered my fiberglassed doorpods and other crap I bought on eBay. It Arrived at USPS Facility on 2/25 and just been sitting there ><.

  9. Can 5k watt rms of bass mess up 3 day old newly tinted windows? They say it takes about 5 days until I can roll down my windows and up to 4-5 weeks until the tint settles

    1. moh.vze.com

      moh.vze.com

I'm guessing it can't mess up the newly applied tint -.-

I was afraid with all the rear windshield glass flexing that it might mess up the tint / expose wet bubble spots that haven't dried out.

Just wait to be safe, whether we say it's ok or not we're not going to be responsible...

  10. The freaken adhesive from my Elemental Designs eDead vse1 sound deadening is just coming apart in my back seat area. Even the foil on top of the adhesive is easily peeled off :(. Having to redo everything with Second Skin Audio Damp Pro.

  11. Hmm. I'm getting Suntek CIR for $325 (discount price) - All windows except front windshield. - 35% legal tint. The shop recommended 25% for my Camry because of the light interior but I wanted to stay live 35%. Thoughts?

  12. Just bought 20FT of 4 channel and 2 Channel SMD RCA's to swap out my Knukoncetpz stuff

      Jessica

      so is this an improvement?

    2. moh.vze.com

      moh.vze.com

Just bought them today and prob wont get it until next week. I originally only needed the 2 channel runs but I decided to go ahead and buy the 4 channel ones anyway.

My current Knukonceptz 2 channel ones going to the DC5K was all jacked up and ghetto rigged to extend the run to the trunk and needs a replacement.

  13. Should have bought my XS Power XS Power 598 Billet from SMD store for faster service. Bought it from soundsolutionsaudio on 2/11/17 and it's still being 'assembled' and has not shipped.

I hate ssa. But that's me. They just made money off of you and drop shipped it. Why not just order from who made the thing? I would have talked to Xs direct. But again just me. Why buy something from a 2nd party?!?

    3. moh.vze.com

      moh.vze.com

They offered free shipping and cheaper cost than XS Power price. SMD Store offered same price but doesn't have free shipping. But yeah, I probably should have bought it directly from XS Power because the one I got from SSA looks like it was used.

It was from SSA website. Funny though. Their price just went back up to $139.99

Autoshop owner said he needed 2 days when I dropped my car off. I called on second day 1 hour before closing and he said he needed more time and will give me a call tomorrow morning. So... is it normal for them to not give me updates ahead of time if they needed more time? I thought it was weird that I had to call them instead of them calling me with the updates.

      Keith77

If its a small independent like mine if you are busy you tend to lose track of who needs to be called. I dont have  multiple "service writers"  that can sit and just make calls all day like you would get at a dealer. He may have lost track and forgot to call.

It's a small shop and he's had it since 1981. I think the business is mainly ran by him and his son (early thirties) and a few older mechanic guys. Last time I was there I can see his three year old grandson chillin at the front desk with them. I pretty much just showed up and payed the bill and shook his hand and said thanks for working on my car.

I asked him how was it working on the Camry and he noted that there were a lot of water everywhere when he did the valve gasket changing. He also asked me if I did my own oil change because he noticed there was something down the oil pan area that needs replacement (probably needs a new washer for the bolt).

Overall, he was a man of very few words but my instincts tell me he does good work when he needs to complete any given task and he's not afraid to keep the car for a couple more days to make sure it gets done right.

My co-worker was the one that recommended the shop and also let me know that the old mechanic owner there is just and old grumpy guy but does good work (he had 3 cars done there).

Also, I tried to ask the old guy if it would be possible to get dual alternators going in my Camry with custom brackets and he kinda refused that job request lol. Dude didn't even recommend any other shops that might be able to do it ( I guess it's not that common to have dual alts in a Camry).

  15. wtf. DD Audio 9912 just went up in price ~_~.

  16. Lol. Just realized today that my Negative run on the ALT to battery is some cheap CCA wire because I ran out of OFC wire when I did my install. The positive is fine though  (0 Gauge Knu Kollosus Flex OFC). Hoping for better voltage once I swap out that CCA crap  on the negative line to OFC.

  17. I wonder what new SMD products are coming out for 2017

  18. Saturday is Lunar New Year of the Rooster!

  19. Thoughts on the Fuse Holder I've been using? https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_36278_Xscorpion-ANL-Inline-Fuse-Holder-ANL1010P.html

I'm stocking up on some more and was wondering if there were better ones. These has been working better than those damn twisty water proof ones that keep breaking or get stripped when I over tighten.

You wont notice any difference, your talking maybe 0.001 difference in voltage if even that.

  20. I'm tempted to slap on my Second Skin Speaker Tweakers onto my sub box where the rear speakers are located but this would probably be a bad idea. SS Speaker Tweaker in my doors or on my sub box for the rear speakers in the trunk >< ?

I think so. There is something funky going on with my rear speakers. I'm guessing the sound waves are bouncing off the rear windshield and doing weird things.

      Could you describe it?

Hmm. Actually it sounds better now that I took off the rear deck plastic covering. It was muffled before but now it's not as bad. I'm going to sound deaden the entire rear deck and maybe screw down my speakers because right now it's just sitting on top of the baffle and the baffle has some air leaks through the stock 6x9.

  21. Second Skin Damp Pro is like crack. I'm thinking about buying more with the sale they have going on right now.

  22. Anyone seen CJ18? He built my box for my XLM2's years ago and I was wondering if he still did box building in case I need to upgrade my subs again

Thats an old page, started as a joke when I was told I couldnt do it years ago. Finally made a legit page after becoming legit and doing it full-time now.
Got somethings planned but gotta get a few other things in check prior. Wont say my ideas because I know how those biters are out there :D

  23. SMD DD-1+ and CC-1: confirmed my max volume on H/U, set my gains on sub DC5K amp, set my SSF, LPF all in under 15 minutes before going to work. Good product!

Still gotta do my 4 channel amp this weekend and maybe record it on video for fun.

I'll probably redo my SSF on the DC5K. My box is tuned to 35Hz and I have the SSF set to 31Hz but am thinking about lowering it to 28Hz.

Need to do more research on how low below box tuning I can go.

Overall, the SMD DD-1+ and CC-1 is nice to have if you're into car audio. I hope we can get an affordable SMD SPL Meter in the future. The ones people using now are like $1,000 :(

    1. audiofanaticz

      audiofanaticz

Usually you dont want to play any lower than 1/2 octave below tuning.

So if your tuned at 35hz, 1 octave lower would be 17.5hz so that would make a 1/2 octave at 26.25hz.

Typically 5-10hz below tuning, but it will vary depending on power, enclosure size, the size of the port, etc.

Love my DD-1+ and CC-1.  I am constantly changing around settings on my 4 channels for fun to change the sound slightly depending.  Love making adjustments to my sub amps using different overlaps dialed in by 0.1 at a time.  =)

I think you would be safe going to 28 Infrasonic

Thanks for the input guys! I'm trying to see if I can get the best out of my XLM2's before I change my subs later this year. Came across an interesting video here:
