  1. Oh that's weird, it should have moved it then. Thanks though. I appreciate it
  2. The information is correct, but the actual blips location is wrong. I'm sorry to be such a hassle The correct location is towards the bottom right of the picture where it says Virginia beach I would also like to add DMM, and hydraulic crimper to my tools list if possible. You're a saint. I apologize for the my being difficult of my change of address.
  3. Does it blink constantly or only when you adjust the volume?
  4. It's yours to do what you will with. I won't advise that to anyone anymore after knowing the proper ways to set gains, but as long as you listen/sniff for the warning signs, you might be ok. At least for a little while.
  5. Going from -10dB to -7.5dB is cutting the output in half almost. That's a 2.5dB loss, and 3dB loss is half the output. The fact that you didn't notice it goes to show alllll of the people who think doubling power means double the audible output (you know who you are if you read this, and you're wrong) But back on topic. I think the -10db tone is safe to use, just as long as you know if you start smelling coil, or your voltage is dropping more than normal, you need to turn the volume down. It's what I do, because I like to get the most I can out of my music with the equipment I have. Some songs need full tilt, others can't do it. It's the way it is, knowing your equipment, learning which songs are recorded louder than others, etc.
  6. Completely disconnect the subs from the amp and retry. But I'm still betting it's the music itself is recorded/compressed to a lower level than the -7.5db you set the amp to. I have a ton of compressed MP3's that I downloaded over the years, that do great on -10db. I recently started using lossless files and -10db is too much, the subs get smelly quick if I don't turn it down.
  7. I believe on alpine units, you have to have the subwoofer level all the way up. Try that, reset gains, see if it changes any. But music is recorded at different levels. And depending on where you download your MP3's from, they could be compressed and altered, meaning that while the original music may have started at -5dB, it could be at -10db or lower, making it quieter than if your amplifiers were set at -10db Also, with using two separate amps, you may need to match the gains. Find your maximum clean level, use a DMM to measure the ACvoltage output of both amplifiers, whichever one has the lower voltage, adjust the higher output voltage down to match the amplifier with lower voltage.
  8. Could be. What amps? What is your music source connection (USB, Bluetooth, aux, CD, etc.)? Do you use downloaded MP3's? A lot of things effect the output level of your music.
  9. Another little clip. There isn't anywhere to park and play around me (at least not respectfully) so no full tilt walk around yet. Next time I go to my hometown which is in the middle of nowhere I might whip something up. The best I can do is 45mph+ driving videos for now. I like my little setup, still needs work. I'm lacking on the free time and workspace though. I'll try to update as I go though. Still need to finish laying down the rest of my deadener. I need to finish applying it to the drivers side door, and the rest is going on the roof, and then any left over will go on the rear hatch, then I'll buy more as I need it to cover as much as I can through the entire vehicle. Thanks for looking
  10. Thats all you need to run active anyway. Yeah I know I do it
  11. @audiofanatics: You can use bandpass on the 80prs At least for mids. For the mid setting you have HPF and LPF. Subs is LPF only, highs are HPF only. Slope starts at 6dB/octave, increases by 6 each time, stopping at 24db/octave?
  12. What other speakers do you have? Are you using the 10's for midbass only? Or for the entire "mid" spectrum?
  13. With a multimeter so you can read what the voltage is at.
  14. Hey, the blip is still located on the old location just with a different city name. Virginia Beach, VA 23454 Sorry to bug you. Just that the new location is a bit further south than what it is currently showing, might shy someone away who might need some help one day.
  15. You don't need to match your alternator and battery other than your battery rests at 12v, and the alternator charges at 13.8-14.4v.
  16. You'll need a heat gun or hair-dryer, and I'd recommend a staple gun to hold it in place, because I did not do that at first and the heat from summer had it peel back a little bit
  17. I'm sure if you browse through some of the GM NBS model truck/SUV build logs, you'll find someone who has done it in that pocket of you need to look at it first.
  18. I don't have mine there. I've only test fitted it for the day I get one. I have the VM-1, which is the same size, but I put it in the little pocket above that to the right of the radio for now.
  19. Unfortunately for you, the top pocket, you could get one, but the second one will definitely stick over the top edge. The bottom pocket you'll have about a quarter inch on top and bottom between the meter and the edge, which makes it a good location for them. 2003 Tahoe owner. Same dash.
  20. Pretty cool. I was a little too young to be apart of the game back when those were popular for use, but it's cool to see them outperform the spec sheets.
