  1. To build a 4th order don't I take the sealed specs for my sub for the sealed area then make my ported side twice to three times as large and then tune my port to like 40-45hz? In it's basic, basic, basic form, yes. It's much more than that to get it right. You can tune and tweek a 4th order for months and never get it right. Few people can throw one together and get perfect results without planning. Have you built a 4th order before? Nope this is a first. And I am going to figure things out before I build that's the reason for the discussion however I am willing to build and re-build to achieve my goal. If after all the posts I read and other peoples build Logs I have it figured out then I will be very happy. But the way I look at it you have to start somewhere. And getting a box built and tuned and testing it will be the only way to start figuring out exactly what I need. But I don't think I've seen a 4th order with the subs firing towards eachother?? Scroll up in THIS thread and click Sani's build. He's got a 4th order tuned to like 5 Hz(it's stupid low) and his subs are oriented in an opposed fashion. My 4th is tuned to 44 hz. the 6th order was somewhere around 25 (the lows were FUNNNN but i wanted something more musical)
  2. if you can't do subs up port back, do subs up port AT the back, like along the back firing up along the window.
  3. 1 line about the OP's original question followed by 3 lines of you calling him a dumbass/asshole.Kinda like the pot calling the kettle black.I guess being a gold member gives you special rights to be a dick? That's right, cause you know... you're a fucking noob, stfu
  4. the wait on those would be no different than the ones i linked. and instead of potentially being unimpressed (you won't be) you'll be sure to be unimpressed (those subs you linked SUCK)
  5. stinkin motor is almost too small to mount to the frame! no way i'd pay that for that sub. much better stuff out there. I'd compare that sub, size wise, to the obsidian 18 which is half the price (much better deal imo) Edit: btw, if you're set on spending that much on a sub, http://audioque.com look at the hdc3's. rating of 1k but take MUCH more daily.
  6. I feel like this thread had been done before... My first 150 was, I'm proud to say, my own build. Just about drove off the road when Seth turned it up.
  7. What kind of wiring do you have for it? I'm planning on 4 gauge power and ground. Do you have big 3 done? Much voltage drop? what's a big 3? i'm a noob
  8. There's no need for separate chambers, your ports are too small, your stubbornness is unwarranted, and NOBODY likes having midbass fire at the back of their head who actually likes their music to sound good. Don't mix subs, amps, or box sizes/types. Welcome to smd
  9. padding will not be needed around the box if the box is built right, just saying. if the box is rattling the toolbox, then the box is vibrating and needs bracing.
  10. try mine. allows custom end correction for the port. https://docs.google....54NnNkWGc#gid=0 Edit: in order to actually edit that and play with it you'll have to go to File > download as and download it as an excel document or open office document. If you don't have microsoft office installed, you can download open office for free (free as in beer... it's open source). Or upload to your own google documents account.
  11. He's already looking at alpine type arrrrghs. we want to lead him AWAY from t hat line of thinking not toward it.
  12. And audioque, Dc, Everest, dad, obsidian.
  13. shrink the port some usually does the trick for me.
  14. i'm right on the edge of the SOL line there in georgia. i'll give it a try though if i remember.. use a camera or something to put a layer of protection between me and the sun.
  15. i can hear the distortion in the bass through my computer speakers... also there's a pause that makes me wanna pull my hair out right at the beginning, just after the first time he craps that first repetitive chorus section.
  16. here's a good start http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=pocket+jig&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=17394757348232320246&sa=X&ei=VwuuT_PXLMOCtgeK9uDkCA&ved=0COUBEPICMAE
