What other equipment are you planning on running? Alpine amps are nice but very conservative. If your looking to do comps are you going for sound quality or the dbz?

No fixes, the battery chargers for most phones use crappy insulation and being so close to your aux cable it just causes interference. May try a better aux cable or just charge your phone before you use it.

I have 8's in my door but I just did fiber glass pods that go back into the door a few inches then stick out, then they taper back toward the back. Heading to town to get more wood to redo them though.

Everyones math is wrong, for 150 bucks for 2 of them they will only work in my truck so send them to me asap! LOL you will be fine just do as Kranny suggested and check the voltage you will want to toss them on a charger and top them off but I do that with all of my builds no matter what amp, alt or battery.

Good question, I've had a couple walls and never had a issue getting pulled over. If it was illegal though I would say it's against the law to have a box van without windows as well. But of course I don't understand a lot of stupid shit that people make laws about. LOL

Tons of brands don't have reps on websites, most of your main stream brands don't actually do their sales they hire out vendors and those vendors are in control of doing all the sales training and representation of the brand. Many vendors carry a multitude of brands also so to get onto an website and promote just 1 brand would be crazy for them.

I'm going to start redoing my doors in a couple days if I remember I'll take videos or pics of how it's done from a - z. I'm horrible at remembering to take pics but since there are so many steps in doing glass I'll remember to do it. Few tips when buying materials, don't buy a resin with wax in it. Make sure it comes with the catalyst (hardener or mekp, Methyl ethyl ketone peroxide) Dont buy thick fleece or to thin, fleece stretches and super thick stuff is very hairy and soaks up the resin to much. Rubber gloves! Don't use like dixie or solo cups to mix resin in lol - bottom of a solo cup stuck to the bench at work from about 4 years ago. I use 2" cheap paint brushes by the box. But there are some really nice tutorials on SMD already, I've used several hints and techniques I've seen on here over the years. I just did some doors for Jason, lettuceschwag here on smd maybe he can post some pics of them.

If they used pvc glue then it's impossible in my experience to get them apart. Good luck

If your looking for something that will last attempting to play around the 20 hertz level your going to want to looking at investing a little more money and cone area. And I agree the Sundown SA12's are a millions times better then what you were looking at.

So I went around to all the shops in town and tossed out my resume with some pics of my fiberglass work. I hope to hear back soon, hard to leave a job that I also do as my hobby. Most of the time it doesn't even seem like work. Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm not even sure I am going to get the job with Lowe's they just had an add in the paper.

I was told on Monday that my employer is going to be out sourcing all of their installs, auto/home theater. I will be able to finish up what they have left and clean out all of the vans and install bays, so this will take about 2 weeks. I still have contact with all of the vendors we used, so I have given thought to maybe opening my own shop. But I'm sure I would just get beat down because I can't do work for free and sell subs for same price a dude on craigslist had em for. So I'm probably to apply at Lowe's, seems like a decent place to work. And I imagine I'd get discounts on wood and shit for my own enclosures. Figured this would eventually happen to our store, people just came in all the time to say what their buddy had or tell us how many competitions they had won with a sub nobody had ever heard of. Or the 1 guy who was fired from Rockford so they wouldn't have to pay him for the pattens on the amps he invented. Anyway I digress, I was actually just wanting to vent some of my frustrations. I'm nervous as shit because I have 4 kids and after the economy collapse very little savings. My wife and I already have tension because we live paycheck to paycheck. Now I definitely can't spend a dime on my Explorer or time helping out anyone else they are handing me cash. This totally sucks. /rant off
