doesn't tuning with car off help tune at 12 volts? might be dumb but when i tune my amps i leave car off so when i do play them and get voltage drop i wont get clipping edit: OP are you sure the smell is coming from the subs? i have seen where some people think its the subs then later find out it was the tweeters burning on some 6x9

wire that sub to 8 ohms if its 4 ohms or wire it to 4 ohms if its 2 ohms. that sub wont last you a week

have you tried the EGR valve? the IAC valve? if you havent you should trouble shoot them also the tps

that is the last thing i can think of. when your cat was bad did it do it the whole time you were driving or just sometimes? did it after it warmed up. few weeks later the car would turn off as i accelerated. they way i had it test was making a little hole on my exhaust pipe before the converter. it seemed to work so i had it replaced. if you dont want to make a hole on your pipe you can just unbolt yours but it will get loud. not saying its your cat but just saying for what happen to my car

have you checked your catalytic converter? had it happen to me it even had my car turn off on me also check your spark plugs. maybe they are old or gaped wrong. check your coils and spark plug wires

get some crescendo tweeters. im powering mine with a kicker 850.4 and are still going after months of screaming. i did set my crossover to 125hz and im using a crossover from crescendo for the tweeters. my brother keeps having trouble with his infinity kappa tweeters. it was even sending his amp to protect mode

The problem with those is that they're made for bitch speakers...(the holes are really small) and if you try to widen it up you'll crack it. I tried that first lol.... Meh, it's behind the door. the magnet cant be bigger than the speaker. then you would need a bigger hole that you wouldnt be able to screw the speaker
