  1. thanks man! Yeah any thing I want to try I will. I oscoped every gain on all 3 amps to prevent wierd issues like this. 1k 0 db test track for 4 channel and 40 hz -5 db Id still like to buy a dd1 to put my mind at ease. I appreciate the input! It always helps to have a fresh set of eyes. Yes they are hurting. they are in need of a good greasing but the one panel with speakers prob weights like 30+ pounds. Thats one reason why I almost want to modify the stock location to make one 6.5 work and cram another in my kick panel location.
  2. Not much progress at all. Fit my trunk trim piece after sitting all winter and somehow had a magical 3/4" gap appear in between the panel and sub box. Literally changed nothing lol have no idea what happened. Dr side door panel interferes with rocker panel cover so will have to do some shaping again. Test fit passenger side and it clears thankfully. Thats about it as far as fab work goes. Other day my main 4 channel started going into protect after a certain volume using the usb inputs? didnt try bluetooth but seems weird I can crank the tuner and it doesnt protect but as soon as I switch to ipod it does it. All audio tracks are clean.. Flat EQ, no loudness no SLA, big time head scratcher. Out of curiosity was able to rip everything out and disconnect the wires going up front door panels since theres nothing there right now. And back to normal. I doubt anything is pinched or shorting but I was able to dodge the rain to do this much so well see what I can figure out.
  3. the sound is great, i may as well not even have rear fill, over powers them so much. Im just so tempted to butcher those rings out and start over No tweeter in this one, just plugged them in, 0 tuning. (sorry for michael j fox filmwork) With the tweeter. It passes the Pink Floyd test too. Thats a must in my book Hold up
  4. After a ton of glazing and sanding. Realized I may just be painting these so might as well take the time to make them look decent. Lower area still needed touch up. Wasnt gonna waste primer on that spot im so glad i made the foldout extension for my work bench wing. after trying out some of bondos brand black primer. Just because ive seen it on shelf for years i was curious, and the grey suck out like a sore thumb went with threaded 8-32 insert nuts this time. epoxied them in place just incase its permanent.(lol) And this is when I remembered why i countersunk the last rings.... barely hits but enough to drive me nuts. and the uneven gap between the far left and middle..... not really a big issue but if im gonna change depth im gonna fix that too.
  5. hung the one panel after thrashing all weekend. 0 tuning and im pretty sure my whole street can hear this thing lol
  6. This is so cool to see you use is after cnc! Im waiting to try it on a 3d printed part when I make the switch from pla to abs. Good shit as always Steve!
  7. Just a quick bondo goober fingered update, rage extreme is the shiznit. I used rage gold when I did the body work on my car and it was an amazing experience. Using the extreme on my door panels makes me wish I used this instead. Fingers are raw but im getting there. Cant wait to get atleast this one panel done.
  8. thanks man. I like the "done" part lol its so true. im hoping for vinyl but really dont have the confidence and will prob ruin expensive material again.
  9. Not 100% sure exactly but Id have to say around 300 watts (probalby not even. Ill likely need to turn these way down)
  10. thanks man and yeah I tested just one resting on door sill. May be overkill. lol
  11. These things are huge So running these will require some modifications to my existing speaker rings. The idea. Sandwich rings with PL. Route the holes. Need more clamps! Even needed one for the tweeter Bit of duraglass to fill the void around the rings Its slow progress but at least its some.
  12. Yeah, it sure comes in handy! Had to get done so it could play winter daily duty Cant wait to see what you have in store for the lancer!
  13. Just realized I needed to update to more of what has happened since summer. this is the day the head scratching started, weird temperature issues just didnt sit right with me so time to get suspicious. I was able to have both cars home while I was doing some troubleshooting. Was a nice peace of mind driving something that worked as it should. And I had to take the skittle through a parking garage and of course take the obligatory roof picture. And the teardown process started. Repainting the intake manifold, fuel rail, factory valve cover and anything else I come across. Of course got screwed over on manifold gasket and a couple odds and ends. But, mainly BOTH of the dowel alignment pins breaking off in the block. Made a custom tool with what was in the toolbox and managed to get them out And this is with the "new" reman odessa cylinder head and the lettered valve cover on just as a cover. Didnt want to rush it in one night so came back the next night for adding fluds and reconnecting the batteries. This was after making it home on its maiden voyage. Running a modified thermostat so I have good flow at all times because I just wanted to be safe. I didnt reuse the lettered valve cover because of the spark plug alignment issue and mysterious oil seepage so I said screw it for now. I felt stupid as I have 2 different fuel rails, dont remember where one came from but probably pull a part. The inlet is at a slightly different angle so the hose clamp scratched a bit of my nice fresh valve cover but its driving again and thats what matters (can slightly see it above) Heres a better daytime picture. So it may not directly be audio related, but if the motor doesn't turn my alt safely that equates to no system lol
  14. thanks man! hopefully will have some more pictures in the next week or so. This cold is killing any progress.
  15. Corona and jack. Happy new years yall!
  16. Decided to dive into my door panels again for 3rd time last night lol. Dug some beginner practice areas out of fiberglass and replaced with proper shit. Also I wont be running any of the speakers I was previously running/planning on. Just placed an order for one panels worth of some nendo goodness. Super stoked
  17. Yeah, thats a clean swap! whats your name on the ORG? Mine is the same as on here. I still frequent that site as dead as it may seem.
