  1. cutting off the bottom is a big job another option is cut the top and remove the port walls, cut then down and router them out so as there steeped to .75 on the sides
  2. rip the top off and put a new bord accross it rip out the port and fill it in put the 2 18" on the front and 4x 8" aero ports 16.5" long
  3. yes you will lose output you would have been better off walling it idd start again, but it aint my build
  4. if you can see how i earthed mine (pic is no the best) 0/1 from battery to spliter 0/1 from spliter to engine block 0/1 from engin block to alt 4g from spliter to factory earth 4g from spliter to rails 4g from spliter to computer factory earth and this was only to run a kicker zx700.5 znd zx400.1 (1120rms total) all my rca were rand down the centre ot the car and my amps were earthed to another splitter box( 2x 4g in 4x4g out, 2x seatbelt bolts, 2x rails through floor) when you test it it should read 0.0???
  5. for the music you lission to why go and 18" why not 2 or 3 10 or 2x 12
  6. ive driven service vehicles and service trucks for the last 12 years with no rear windows, and no cam, you just have to get use to it,
  7. tell your mate to keep his coin and get it all latter, hell end up with out dated, no warranty items, and more then likely not what is suited to vehicle
  8. buy the car first, measure the truck work out space available and chose the size and brand form there, dont forget bass aint everything if there is no mids or highs to go with it
  9. I also agree hence going a bit bigger with the box When designing a box for slot port 14-16sq" per/ft is what you are after Also with a slot port try to not go over 9:1 ratio the closer to 1:1 the more efficient, The more efficient the smaller you can have a port hence aero a at 9-13 per ft My self I like my ports in the high 14 but thats me If I were you 2.5-3cuft 14-15sq" Per/ft of port
  10. sundown audio had an sa8 set up this way there are a few YouTube videos of this
  11. can you lower the box to say 16 high and incress the deepth to around 14-15 you will have a box that is easier to install in a trunk and get a better port ratio, and a bit bigger box
  12. Just spend the $3 and buy 4ft of 4" pressure or drain pipe Yes flared is better but not when it 25% smaller then what required Idd rather have 4" straight the 3" flared And you can alway sell the 3" on here to someone else
  13. Pics are pore quality (iPhone 3) http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/141854-2-sa8-builds-v15-in-hsv-v2-in-toyota-75-series/
  14. Didn't read the your first post to well You want to run 2 x 10 and 2 x 12 At 500 over so 8000rms Just pick either the 10's or 12's To set up both will be a nightmare as there too close is in size and feq output The only way I've seen it done is 12 at 25-30 hz low passes at 45-60hz 10's at 45-65hz subsonic set at 50 lowpasses at 80-125 And still may not sound that good I ran 2 8" and 1 12" all sealed in my last setup 12 0-50hz on a 24db slope and 8's 50-125hz on a 12db slope slop and surrounds at 160+ And I was never happy with the outcome But ported will be harder to set up and cost a lot more in eq's
  15. So your 4000rms in total Hope you got the Elec system to handle that 4000rms at 14.8, is close to 270amps So idd say around 3500 at 12.xx Your gonna need your stock + a ho alt If not 2 ho alt for that
  16. this is a build im doing for a mate in his 75 series landcruser 2 sa8 v2 its taken about 2 hrs so far, but the hard work is still to come in the finishing this isn't an exact drawing as i had converted to metric and rounded it due to 3/4" is 19.05mm and only 18mm mdf is avaible, but above it the exact measurements the black around the 45's isn't gapes is texta i used to trace a line on them. trial fitting the port
  17. When you say punchy not boomy Everyone has a different take on this so that's a hard one to do Have you ever herd 10" subs ported and at what hz did you find you liked? Do you have a good front stage to allow lower tuning? What type of car? Sub up,back or front Port up back front or side When you say over powering what with and by how much? you do no there 1500rms rated each ?
  18. there are a few issues i see with box first 15" high with a 15" sub doesn't work as the sub is always 15.xx" so you'll need to stay at 16" secondly youll be overpowering it by 33% so idd stay under 3cuft net, as 3 in max recommended third to use a 6" aero its close to 9" at flare so 15.xx +9" is 24.xx" width (you can put it lower of higher then the centre but the smallest box is 23.5" if you notch the flare on the aero) hence idd go with slot ports
  19. box 16H x 25W x 20D in 3/4 with 3/4 baffle all around 3net side ported 1 x 6" 18long 34hz side or front ported 2 x 4" x 16long 33.5hz side or front ported 1 x 6" x 14long 37hz side or front ported 3 x 4" x 15long 42hz side or front ported 3 x 4" x 12.5long 44hz 16x25x21 side ported 1 x 8" x 17long 45hz youll be able to get more options with a removable slot port but the box will be harder to make
