  1. I believe Jacob said on FB that for now the U series will have production split between the US and China until they get more parts to build them fully in house. That 12 in the video was built in 'murica by the look of the packaging and that dust cap glue job ? tells me it was built on a Friday ?
  2. Just watched a couple of your IG video's Steve, The Caddy looks sick lighting them up like that! The end of trip didn't sound to good, that fucking sucks! Hope you're able to get the pro back man. It was at the airport so even a staff member there might have snagged it.
  3. You can download the DD-1 tones from the D'Amore website. Also make sure the 9v battery is good, i had that same problem last time i used mine and a fresh battery solved it.
  4. We should all be so lucky as to have a friend like you Steve! this is pretty fucking solid man! You should fake the wiring and re-install (but obviously not hook up) that .5F cap in a visible spot just as a bit of a joke That is, unless you don't saw it in half first.
  5. Drinking my 2nd coors banquet / tropicana oj 70/30 mix in the past hour. Haven't had a drink since christmas and boy do i have fuck all for an alcohol tolerance! Normally i'd be blazing but i got pinched on a pre-access piss test for a job in 10/16 and i'm on a 12 month (of employment) random testing program, still got 4 months to go. (yeah i haven't been working much)
  6. That beast is drawing 1700+ amps! (just a guesstimate assuming 70% efficient) ? HOLY SHIT! Wonder #'s it would do on your Tahoe level electrical Steve?
  7. I would be embarrassed to have that setup in my vehicle, let alone have it on your YT channel for thousands of folks to see.
  8. Does the distortion detect light on the DD-1 only work for the 40 & 1khz tracks? Or will it light up with distortion at any frequency and just leave the two test frequency detect lights unlit?

I think it only works with 40 and 1 khz. They don't supply other frequency tones on the disc because of that. The AMM1 on the other hand detects distortion up to 20 khz I think.

The amplifier in question should distort at relatively the same voltage across most bass frequencies.  Thats how the OM-1 works.

You can test this.  Set your amp to just under clipping with the D'Amore track and DD1.  Measure the voltage with a DMM.

Next, get a set of test tones in the range you are interested in.  Play a 40Hz tone from that set and adjust the bass knob to match the previous voltage.  Now play all the tones you want and read the voltage.

it will light up with any kind of distortion so I'd say yea, you just need a quality track that you know the loudness of. had a buddy who had amps that would continuously distort if the 2 amps he had were strapped even with out music playing

  9. how does a person switch from the mobile version of SMD to the web version on a phone?

“Theme” at the bottom maybe? Im not sure u can change much, if ur on a mobile device i think it just knows and does it on its own. If ur already using the “mobile friendly” theme then maybe it’ll look different going to a normal theme. I think thats all u can do from mobile. I use the “SMD dark” theme and i like that one most.

Boom! you nailed it! thank you!

      I was looking for a mobile/web option.

Don’t think i would have ever looked at theme as an option

  10. $25 support level is well worth it! 30% off gear at WCCarAudio and i just got this swag package in the mail! Thanks a bunch Steve ???
  11. From wikipedia, Has that crazing ever been an issue with pieces you've done Steve? Very cool, thanks for showing us that Steve ??
  12. Contemplating picking one of these up myself when the tax return comes in. Probably go for the 47 myself and save some space. With a 4000w max rating on the 500F a person would probably want to half that for rms power right? I have a system total of 2400w rated rms stepping up to something in the 1000F series would probably be unnecessary ? My only reason for considering the 1000F is i could probably ditch the two group 65 AGM's in the bed of my truck and save about 100lbs of weight.
  13. Having never smelled a cooked woofer myself i can just imagine it would be a stink that would make a blind man scream armageddon!.
  14. Wonder what his compression ratio is like? I'm all in to see that smoke!
  15. I think i will be too, just covering my bases should something happen i might be able to help myself using any knowledge gained in this thread.
  16. I wonder if you would need that mod if you lived up here at the moment Steve, LOL! It's -30c up here, i'm getting the same voltage as you thanks to the cold!
  17. So here's some pictures from the coffee run i just got home from, This my voltage at rest, been sitting for 10-12 hours Ambient temperature in my underground parking, assuming the alternator is the same temperature before starting. \ Voltage just after starting the truck, You know it's cold when a 20 minute drive in 2nd gear (automatic, reving about 2250) and you don't even crack 60f according to the thermocouple that came with my fluke meter. I've got the tip of the probe just inside one of the bolt holes holding the alternator case together Voltage just before i shut the truck off,
  18. I'll be checking that today, when i usually get home i just want to get out and get inside. Gonna compare the VM-1 to my Fluke 325 and see what we get. I'll be sure to get some shots to share in this thread.
