Truck reving by itself in idle???

Recommended Posts

If its not over 2000 rpm I wouldnt worry about it. Its your cars way of heating up the Oxygen sensors. It will do it in park and idle. But if you put it into a gear, (reverse, or drive) there is a load on the engine and wont do a high idle.

formerly known as Blue86f150

its a 4th order just because its tuned in the 40z doesnt mean it wont reach down and jiggle your balls at sub 30 hz frequencies.

Regardless if they were dipped platinum and were stuffed in Beyonce's twat.....way too fucking exspensive

Throttle position sensor, or a vacuum leak if I had to take a shot at it. I fixed a ford escort doing this with a rubber plug on a random hose going into the intake lol

Don't forget about the Idle Air Control Valve. It'll happen at idle and after awhile it'll start to happen in gear at say at a stop light.

I'd hit that so fucking hard whoever pulled me out would be King of England.

Lol... looks like we were on the same page. Car-B-Ques suck.

ya, tires and paint burning make the marshmallows taste funny.

ok before you go and spend all this money on replacing shit all these people are saying that have nothing to do with your problem. how long has this been happening? has there been any work done lately or have you done ANYTHING to the car lately? everything helps so dont leave out the little fix you did jut before this started. google your vehicle and see if anyone else has this problem. is the check engine light on? also a couple things it actually could be would be this could be a normal thing called a cold start or warm up idle. have you had the vehicle long? or had it since its been cold? and parts it could be, it could be a vacuum leak, and possibly idle air control valve but probably not.

So i was outside today just messing around cut on my truck to let it warm up and when its in idle (PARK) it revs up by its self and sounds like someone is in the car pushing the gas pedal and then it slowly starts to sound like its off.. It only does it in PARK and when its in drive it wont do it...

So is there anything that could be a problem?

if you had the AC or defrosters on, then you probably need to get the AC recharged. if that's the problem then it should stop doing that when the AC is off.

i had that happen with my car, got it fixed for about $80 at a NAPA.

Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs.

More box builds

some cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches!

I'm with captain stupid.

Can it be condensation? My mom's car sometimes rev up like this when we have temperature changes. It's a 1990 Opel(Vauxhall)Omega, and it usually goes away by itself, or it can be treated with a little condensation remover mixed in the gas/petrol.
