I have a 9512 D2 hooked up to a RF T2000bd. I currently have it running at 4 ohms. I have my gained turned a little more than half way up to prevent clipping. My friend and I got into a discussion about how i should be able to turn my gain up full safely since im only running it a 4 ohms. My thoughts were even at a low power I would still create a clipped signal which would damage my equipment.

My question is since im running my amp at such little power and great efficiency would i be able to turn my gain up all the way and be safe at the low levels of power?

no just because your wired at a higher impedance doesn't mean you can just crank the gain. You could be getting a clipped signal at 1 ohm or 4 ohms just with the gain at half or any other level.

Use an O-scope to see at what point you are clipping.

Quick question, why are you running it at 4ohms? Is your electrical not enough to handle the RF2000 at 1ohm?

Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks :)

Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.

Turning the gain all the way up does not mean turning the amp all the way up to 2,000 watts. And I'm going to guess there's some clipping now.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
