would still rather see pics of the DMM and ohm load for proof that you wired this thing to 2 ohms

you could have very well did this

The only time I see this truly being an issue is if the cone is heavy enough to need RMS power to move, or the spiders are superstiff. But I've under powered subs ridiculously abd still got more performance than other subs powered more than RMS.

It's the enclosure. No, sealed is not bad, but the dimensions that would work prefab for xplodes won't do well for a larger driver.

And the amp settings are just all around good advice. What would be the point of getting a more powerful amp to keep gains and boost so dangerously high?

underpowering a sub wont make it quieter because its underpowered...

a 1000rms sub on 500rms is quieter than a 600rms sub on 500rms? i dont think so...

I guess you guys should know about the woofer he is using, that has a rather stiff suspension, and well way stiffer then any sony would ever be....

Unique suspension

Pioneer's Air Suspension System features a dual-cone structure — a main cone and surround at the top connected to an internal drive cone and surround beneath. This unique suspension system uses the air trapped in between to propel the main cone with outstanding accuracy and low distortion. The injection-molded polypropylene cones are reinforced with basalt and carbon fiber for outstanding strength and quick response, while the wide-roll, three-layer surrounds keep the cones on track and hitting hard during deep excursion.

thats what i was hinting at... i guess it depends on how much quieter it is. if its alot quieter i would think 8ohm but if just a little then maybe new stiff sub...

Peep my tunes...

I have used and actually still own a pair of these 12"s. Some of my favorite budget subs. Yes, the suspension is stiffer than the Sonys will ever be, but not at the point it needs 1,000 watts to move. These subs do very well on low power, but I seriously think the enclosure is just too small. And that the subs have been wired incorrectly.

Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?

Audiofanaticz is right. them pioneers need a shit ton more power to move them than them Xblodes do. shit can that sealed box to build u a good vented 1 and make them bitches slam wiff a bigger amp :drink40:

Guess my two slamming on an AQ1200 is just a figment of my imagination. Or when my BTLs were only being fed 900 watts, now those are stiff as shit, lol

I've seen in a few cases where a lower rated sub recieving rated or more than rated do better than a bigger sub running a 1/3rd or less than rated in the same enclosure.

You really need to build yourself a new box that is optimal for that sub. At this point you will see a major difference on the same power.

Enclosure is everything :drinks:
