cardy Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 i posted the topic yesterday about having the 3 jl audio 1000/1 amps and tryin to do 6 to 9 15s in my 99 suburban well im a firm believer in you get what you pay for for so money isnt a issue cause i want it right the first time i went to the shop yesterday and discussed what i learned on here and now they recomend me to put 1 13w7 on each amp and they say it would sound better but im looking into t3 audio t.1000 15s is they some good subs one on each amp i know it aint all in the box subs play a role too my 2 treo ssx 15s failed me on my 2500bd they was just loud not deep after 3 box builds by different shops and i cant see wasting money on 13 w7s

I can say without a doubt that the one I have in now is better than the 2 Polks I had in there before. Plus you get the benefit of knowing your helping to keep an american company alive. 6berry Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 first i would recommend building the box on your own because shops generally dont know what to do or care enough to do it right. what kind of box do you have in your suburban? something like steves box would probably work good for you and you could do 4 maybe 6 15's depending on how much room you have. the t.1000's would be good and leave you room to upgrade your amps later. some dc level 4's, sundown sa-15's, ascendant audio chaos or havoc, or dd 2500 or 3500 would be about in the same power range of the t.1000's just to give you some options 1999 Audi A4 1.8T::: 4 - DC Level 3 10's in a 4th order Rockford P6002 on Subs for now (3-3.5k coming eventually) MB Quart ONX4.60 for Mids and Highs Boston S50 Components in Front Boston S65 Coaxials in Rear 40 Sq Ft of Second Skin Damplifier Build Thread UBL 1948 Plymouth

Build your own box, its cheaper and sounds how you want it to sound. THERE IS BETTER SUBWOOFERS FOR THE MONEY. With JL, your paying for the name, and while it is fairly good equipment, there are much better for less, that were designed for what you want... And I love how you say YOU KNOW it isn't all in the box... How do you know that man? The box is WAYYY more important than the equipment you put in it... I'd get the 13w7 over a T1000 any day of the week though lol. Bassless once again. Can't seem to keep a system for more than a few weeks Saving for a '06 Nissan 350z, look for build around June 2012.
CJ18 Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dont let a shop over charge you for JL subs. Go with DC,FI,AA,DD,Sundown. Any of those brands will be much much cheaper and will sound just as good if not better. The JL 1000/1 is VERY VERY VERY over priced for 1000w as well. Just to give my statement some credibility, before I joined this forum I ran a JL audio W7 12 and 1000/1 and let a retail shop way over charge me for it. Now that I am much better informed about the products available I just cannot say that it is ok to spend that kind of money on something when there are other products available for much cheaper. I would be more than happy to help you out if you want to go with DC products for your build. Just shoot me a PM with any questions you may have.
