Thought they used to have a bolt on the back for mounting? yea, i was surprised seeing and fondling it in person... Im so use to the Mayhem 18s, and BTLs... Those dont have shit on the AA SMD woofer, its so monstrous!!! The threaded rod is an option, it comes with or without, if you order it with the mounting stud you are stuck with it since it does not unscrew. You would have to cut it off.
