Those look like the old usd waveguides. If you hit them with a couple layers of sound deadener and a layer of non hardening modeling clay it will take the ringing out of them. Are those the ones that came in a component set with a passive crossover? If you can mount them as deep and as wide as you can. In a vehicle like an suv maybe at your outer knee for starters. They are so wide (suv's) that if you mount them all the way out to the sides you may have some problems getting a focused center image but will have great stage width. If you can't make it work you could always get the mini horns as long as you don't have a huge center console.
