Did the alternator and transmission fluid flush on an 03' altima yesterday. Thankfully it all turned out good. I officially hate the way nissan designed the alt mount bracket and anyone who ever has done one for a system; I'm sorry you had to deal with that as well. But the transmission was doing that bullshit where it takes 30 years to get into gear; 1 fluid change totally fixed it and I'm super glad because it's my poorest friend and this guy got screwed by a florida guy selling it with tickets he lied about being paid, had to deal with it from here and (being hispanic) has been pulled over by LAPD for the expired plate, so thankfully this means he didn't waste $3,000 in repairs and fees just to have the tranny die and have to sell/replace it. He woulda been pissed and in the hole all that money I'm sure. Does anyone know how long you should run ATF oil before the re-fill??? We heard/read that we should flush once with new oil; run it for a day or two, then reflush. Because it had been so long since the last time. Would a whole week matter?? Also, we were not sure how crucial keeping the same fluid volume was, and my friend bought the fluid before and only got 5 bottles, we needed ~5.35 in total after measuring the old oil so we poured all the new in and then added a tiny bit of the old (mostly because it didn't even seem that dirty, still had some red to it) through a double-mesh metal filter, just to make sure to put the exact same volume in. Was that a total dumb move that contaminates the new and ensures we have to(/really should) re-flush? We assumed we should anyway since we'd definitely need a second refill (his tranny was seriously so bad) Also thing that made me happy was the realization that house of cards released a new season and I totally thought it was a month away still so now I get to binge that shit.
