ChevyBoy95
1. Magnet size isn't as important as you think 2. asking how many db something hits is irrelevant because you car is different, enclosure will be different, power will be different, etc. 3. yes, db and loudness kind of follow suit of each other, but not always, so don't rely on what a sub woofer does db wise to make a decision (refer back to #2) Quote Best Score to Date : 160.5 dB Outlaw (47Hz)[4 XM 15's & 2 Taramps Bass 12k's] BL : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147800-chevyboy95s-4-15s-7krms-wall-1533-db-on-half-power/YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/hitemwiththeflex/

HHR Ed
Physical Magnet size of a subwoofer has little to do with power handling and performance. Rather it is the geometry of the magnet design and it's material. For instance, I carry multiple subwoofer brands and some have a 1500w model that uses a smaller magnet than another brand's 1000w model. Now how loud they get totally depends on how you install and use them. They all have the same potential to get loud. Key points to look for when choosing a subwoofer are 1. Fits into you power budget. i.e. is if you plan on running 600w rms or more to each woofer, you should choose woofers rated at least 600w rms or higher. 2. Fits into your price budget. 3. Aesthetic appeal. This is how good it may look to you or in your install. This may not be important to some. 4. Durability. This can be determined by the type of parts and materials used and its quality of construction. User feedback helps figure this out. And it is not true that Chinese woofers are less durable than US woofers and it may surprise some that even the top woofers out there (Fi included) Produce products, at least in part, in China. So production location should not be a determining factor in durability. 5. Box specs. Just make sure that the recommended enclosures can fit within your install and they fit within your listening tastes. 6. Availability. Need to be able to get them before you can have them. 412 CVX
HHR ed. said it. it's better to do your own research and come to your own conclusions rather than relying on suggestions of others. also, the product really only determines about 10-15% of how your systems sounds. it's up to the installer to make a product shine. in other words, the product is almost irrelevant, it's the install that's the most important Quote Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. My temp system build log More box buildssome cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches! I'm with captain stupid.
