meade916 Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 actually, for strength AND longevity, glassing the inside does help a LOT. I believe in a strong box. Also, using glass allows you to use a thinner MDF board. 3/4" with a few layers of 19oz (or better) fiberglass on the inside will be stronger then any 1" MDF box for sure, AND it seals it very nicely. Plus, its pretty easy. You dont have to be fancy when doing structural glassing I don't know how overbuilding your box and making it the best it can be is a new "fad". It should be anyones goal. Even if its just crazy bracing, the ultimate goal is to make it extremely strong and durable. This. Don't need to glass a box inside if braced properly... Shit, my Zv2 is on close to 3k in a single baffle box, proper bracing in the right places and no issues, no flex, no nothing. This. Making your box as strong as it can be is not new, but glassing as the end all solution is. Besides sealing and decreasing port noise, never used glass to make my boxes strong. Proper bracing and building correctly is key. And let's face it...how much power is OP even really talking about? There is definitely a point where overkill exceeds efficiency and purpose. Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
