Captain Stupid
ahh.. See when we spoke on another thread eariler I didn't know you were going to just cover the box in cf and then apply resin. Hrm.. I wonder how MDF would do in an autoclave.. That other thread was about just what you thought it was about. No MDF, all CF through and through. I decided the risk of it not working out due to the relative density of CF was not worth the cost and hassle. Even though a true solid CF box would be cool as hell, I chose not to go that route. So I figured this approach would be the next best thing. 2006 Cadillac Escalade 2/3 drop on 28" wheels Two RE SX 18" subs RF T2500-1bdCP amp, 3531watts on birthsheet Custom carbon fiber sub box EVERYTHING else is stock, for now 149.4 @ 37hz, Termlab, dash, open window on two AQ3 18s all stock electrical, wired to .25 ohm on a RF T2500 148.8 @ 36hz, Termlab, dash, open window on one AQ3 18 all stock electrical, wired to .5 ohm on a RF T2500 147.8 @ 38hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on two RE SX 18s 146.4 @ 36hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on one RE SX 18 Link to my hack-built, stupid, carbon fiber wasting project.... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/149946-carbon-fiber-box-update-1494db-37hz-on-tl/ http://gifsoup.com/NDM3MTc1MQ
Captain Stupid
Well, the box is finally in the truck. I'll be honest, I'm not 100% happy with the finish on the box, especially after seeing it in the sunlight. But it is what it is. If I feel like making it nicer later, I may. I have other projects now starting to pile up and I need to get to them soon so I'm not buried for the next two months. Subs are just resting in the box. Needed to test fit to see where I drill holes for the wire and the inserts. Now that I see the box in the truck, I think I am going to build an amp rack to the rear of it on the floor so that all of the rear carpet is covered. That too will be MDF fully wrapped in CF!! Stay tuned! 2006 Cadillac Escalade 2/3 drop on 28" wheels Two RE SX 18" subs RF T2500-1bdCP amp, 3531watts on birthsheet Custom carbon fiber sub box EVERYTHING else is stock, for now 149.4 @ 37hz, Termlab, dash, open window on two AQ3 18s all stock electrical, wired to .25 ohm on a RF T2500 148.8 @ 36hz, Termlab, dash, open window on one AQ3 18 all stock electrical, wired to .5 ohm on a RF T2500 147.8 @ 38hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on two RE SX 18s 146.4 @ 36hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on one RE SX 18 Link to my hack-built, stupid, carbon fiber wasting project.... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/149946-carbon-fiber-box-update-1494db-37hz-on-tl/ http://gifsoup.com/NDM3MTc1MQ

Joe X
I would have tested it before placing the CF and then after to see what it really does. Other than that it looks really unique.

Other than that it looks really unique. I agree. I really wish I could have, but I started building the box before I had the subs in hand and I still don't have an amp yet or any wiring done. All my effort has been on the box and the truck's stereo is still 100% stock....yuck....Bose. Also, with the 1000rms subs and T2500 amp, I don't think the CF was really needed anyhow. Was just a cool project. 2006 Cadillac Escalade 2/3 drop on 28" wheels Two RE SX 18" subs RF T2500-1bdCP amp, 3531watts on birthsheet Custom carbon fiber sub box EVERYTHING else is stock, for now 149.4 @ 37hz, Termlab, dash, open window on two AQ3 18s all stock electrical, wired to .25 ohm on a RF T2500 148.8 @ 36hz, Termlab, dash, open window on one AQ3 18 all stock electrical, wired to .5 ohm on a RF T2500 147.8 @ 38hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on two RE SX 18s 146.4 @ 36hz, Termlab, legal, sealed on one RE SX 18 Link to my hack-built, stupid, carbon fiber wasting project.... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/149946-carbon-fiber-box-update-1494db-37hz-on-tl/ http://gifsoup.com/NDM3MTc1MQ
