BassMunky
So how many of you run active or passive? My friend said it better to run passive that why and said it will sound just as good. OrionStang
Passive is easier, obviously. Active can sound better, but you have to take your time adjusting levels and such to get the right sound. Active with a processor is the way to go. Noel989
^^^2x It's alot easier going passive But going active you have more control with crossover points and equalizing so it'll be more difficult but could sound better Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/

Smoove
Active ALC 20 all day. I have run both, for SQ I spend the extra and run active. armykyle1
Passive is limited to the quality of the crossovers. This is true for active. If you have good passive xovers, no need for active. If you've got a shitty highs amp, don't go active.... Going active isn't a simple yes or. It's based around your drives, what you're trying to achieve, amps and budget. If passive offered such bad quality, you would see component sets tipping the scales over 1k. Also a lot of guys I see running "active" aren't, they're just running low pass and high pass on a 4ch, which usually leaves a horrible gap in bandwidth.... Say your mid bass goes up to 400hz, but your tweets only play down to 3000hz, big gap. In my personal opinion, there's no point going active unless you go 3way active. Just me though. Even then, you'll find great 3 way comp sets. Nightshade
I run an active setup powered by a Sundown sax100.4 The reason I chose to do so is because the xover network on the amp is one of the better one,s out there. The fact that I can do low pass, bandpass, and high pass off the same amp is a bonus. Currently I am using two channels for bandpass on my 6.5" and 5.25" drivers. Then I am using two more channels for high pass on a total of 4 tweets. If you are thinking about active and want to use an amp the Sundown's are the way to go. If you want to run active from the deck Pioneer makes some awesome decks to use. 2013 VW Jetta GLI 2.0 Turbo 1 Sundown Audio SCV2000 1 Sundown Audio X15 V2 1 XS Power D3100 Audio Control LC6i Stock Deck 146.4 sealed on the dash at 37hz 2001 Focus ZX3: RETIRED Team Sundown Audio, Team XS Power, 2 time NSPL Car 3601-Up Champion, 2 time NSPL Car Hardcore ChampionHighest NSPL Scores to date:154.3db on the dash sealed at 46hz, 156.2db in the kick at 46hz155.2db unofficial on dash at 43hz
