OrionStang
I have no clue but why must everyone say that anything other than 6.5's sound like shit? Because for the most part, they do. Ovals get loud, but i've never heard any that sound good over a wide range of music. Skullz
Depending on how you aim the 6x9 it can sound completely different one way from another way in positioning. When you have the long portion of 9" aimed at the person it will sound better and deeper than if you had the 6" shorter side pointed towards you, so when you install 6x9's they really do need to be positioned correctly to be more effective. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
Quiet
The best sounding mids/highs I had in a car was in my wife's Cougar... 4 6x8 Polk DBs about 10 years ago. They did sound really good comparatively and seemed to have a bit more low end than 6.5s.... Just put a set of Polk DB 6.5 comps in her Pacifica and SQ is better but less low end. 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud.
skittlesRgood
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22203_Image-Dynamics-XS-69.html beautiful sounding 6x9s ^^ they have a use because you can fit more cone area in a smaller space. nothing about the cone makes the speaker sound bad. the aftermarket demand for them is lower so companies put their effort into the more popular "round" speakers. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood. Quiet
I just think there's an overabundance of shitty by-nines out there, pretty popular size. Also the rear deck is a really shitty place for mids/highs. You don't typically find nicer comps in ovals either... 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Less quiet. Still not loud. AI James
a fella here in cali Neel has all oval mids in his SQ car sounds great. more cone area = win. Auto manufactures thought of music last so older cars usually have oddball speakers. Ford just hasnt changed from the 5x7 in most vehicles.
