Here you go, an answer to a petition on We the People to raise gun control:

where can we petition? im sure most that want to have the assault stile rifles are people who hate it.. why should we get punished because of people that brakes the law? i say punish the criminal and not the law abiding citizen.. do not ban the AR just stiffer sentence when one is used in a crime, dont ban high cap magazines just stiffen the jail time. 1 round shot in a crime 1 year in prison.. that means a 25 round mag used in a crime should get the criminal 25 years in jail regardless if he kills or not.. that law would only hurt the criminal and not the law abiding citizen. now why cant the government see it that way?

117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses

3 have done time for assault

71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit

14 have been arrested on drug related charges

8 have been arrested for shoplifting

21 currently are defendants in lawsuits

84 have been arrested for drunk driving within the last year.

Now I ask, assuming not one of our Congressmen are in two stats, that's 380 people of the 535. 71% of Congress. Nice. Why do we allow those people to run our country and they're (Pretty much just Obama, I know) going to take away a constitutional right? Seems like this country has it's head up the wrong place. Let's worry about banning guns that can be and are used in shootings which account for a VERY SMALL fraction of all guns in the country rather than perhaps having actual good Congressmen and worrying about real issues that matter.

I don't think there have been any specifically asking to ban a specific gun, people have just been asking for bans on assault weapons. From what I can tell. I didn't go through every single petition, I just went to the responses page to see if he had actually responded to any I had signed.
