White Lightning Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 In that case, I'd go with 1 15 with the driver as far to the passenger side as possible with the port(s) as far to the driver side as possible ... Somewhere in the high 30s to low 40s htz range ... Is this a single cab or an extended cab ??? Tarball Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 i could get 15's in there but they would not show all the way through the cut. some of the sub would be blocked by the bed and maybe not fire all the way through if that makes sense. thats why i chose 12's. and thats what i was thinking a pair of bad ass 12's versus 4 mid level 12's. I'm building my s10 box now - the way my cut-out is the the cone should line up with my cutout so the cone movement shouldnt be blocked by the bed. My hole is huge though . CleanSierra Posted March 5, 2013 Report Posted March 5, 2013 The air would still very through, it doesn't work like how you're thinking. If your have the airspace and the height, go with a couple fifteens Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
hod913 Posted March 6, 2013 Author Report Posted March 6, 2013 its a crew cab. And i thought hard about 15's i love the drop a good 15 does when its done right. I just want to do this once and do it right thats why i was asking multiple or pairs and what you guys recommend.
sprkn_ranger Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Sanitarium did 4 18's in a quasi 6th order in the bed of his step side silverado. And the 18's were mounted vertically. Edit- if your tight on airspace, then fiberglass the floor and sides if the bed to get every cubic inch you can and you should be able to pull it off. hod913 Posted March 11, 2013 Author Report Posted March 11, 2013 One more question if the hole that goes from bed to cab is not as tall as the woofers will that cause problems? having the subs push air that wont go through the hole and hit the bed. I thought someone said that would create an issue

hod913 Posted March 12, 2013 Author Report Posted March 12, 2013 4th order? sorry i see that most of those are bandpass or isobaric how would i do that with this box? and i heard those style of boxes are harder on subs and you cant hear when they are popping or getting ready to blow? i have never had one just asking
hod913 Posted May 16, 2013 Author Report Posted May 16, 2013 ok so I got my first cut through done 4 kicker new comp R12's ON 2 KICKER zx1000's and its pretty loud. One thing bothers me. my buddy that helped me with the box did this design with like a transition port and it runs all the way across the bottom, is only like 1 or 2 inch tall and I feel I might be lacking some lows do to cancelation. the box is like 55" wide and the cut through is only 37" wide. so a good chunk of the port is being blocked. The face of the box is reset back about 3 or so inches but still I think it would be great in a tahoe or something like that. Thinking of making a new box with the port in the center and 2 12's on each side. Anyone know of a good designer that could help me in the right direction? Want to make sure this is done right and not have to make another box.
