MDF.... Birch.... Weight difference and where to buy?

Just wondering what the weight difference is between a sheet of MDF and a sheet of birch ply.

And if anyone knows where to get 1" 4"x8" sheets of each? I'd need something as close as possible to Redmond, WA. Distance is an issue here since I don't own a vehicle large enough to haul it. So I'd either be renting one or borrowing a friend's.

Depends what grade of mdf; for the most part it's still way heavier; I used a little on my wall; but mostly birch; it's lighter and much stronger

Shit I think I just used 6 sheets got 2 to go

I've always used 3/4 MDF. I get 'em at Home Depot. I'd like to try Birch one day.

4x8 of 3/4 mdf is like 96 lbs a sheet. 4x8 sheet of $45 home depot birch is like 55-65 lbs i believe. ive built boxes with both and the birch ends up wayyy lighter. crazy when the woofer weighs more than the box

BIRCH FTW, i'll never use mdf again after trying out birch for the first time, shit I used the cheap 7 ply home depot AC birch plywood and it was still better than mdf, couldn't imagine that 13 ply baltic birch that i've seen a few people use on here.

you should put 1 or two layers of each over a gap and add weight to the center until each sample breaks.. like lb by lb.. to see which is stronger.. thatd be a good test

Orion that's the heavy stuff , there's light weight medium and heavy might even be x heavy had a long convo with the guy I but wood from, I basically only buy birch now lol
