Professor's be like, you need this in the real world

you will probably never need to figure out any algebra problems in the real world

but the problem solving and brain power you get from math classes will benefit you your entire life.

But, I'm an engineer..

Krakin's Home Dipole Project

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

Gunnem is right, It pays off to have algebra under your belt. But I think his sarcasmeter is off.

In the real world, funny enough, the last time I used any algebraic equation was to double check the tuning on the enclosure for my 2 10s.

I agree that learning subjects like algebra help the mind Bette rprocess equations in the daily world. No, you will probably never use Pythagoreans theorem but I bet you understand certain rules and how they relate to actions in the real world.

That being said, I've never understood why (since we are preparing children for the real world) not teaching them about taxes, salaries, credit scores, and everything else that has a MUCH greater impact in the real world.
