Quiet
Fake or real?! (or am I late to the party?) MAP $1699.00 Sundown Audio Zv5 24" So i was just digging through my design files and realized i was prepared for this day lol. 30 cubes net tuned to 26hz, this should work. It's a shame that it isn't on the team series motor tho. lol Putting a team series motor and coil on that sub would stretch the surround and fold the cone, the surround has to be customed tooled, from what I know about sundown thats probably already in the works but that stuff takes a while to perfect. I agree though the team motors and coils would be epic once finalized. Someone could build a 24" sub with a 6" coil, 5 stack ferrite motor, carbon reinforced aluminum cone, 12" 10 layer spider, and a kevlar reinforced surround, and it would STILL be cheaper than a jackhammer lol. Doesn't make much sense to scale up the cone area but not the motor behind it. I've never been impressed with 21 or 24 subs, not enough force to move all that air. Quote 2007 Pacifica Rebuild. Karkov
Sundown Audio U series 19 photos on Sundowns Facebook https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1038411449547659.1073741886.114478905274256&type=3 From Sundown... Since I released the pricing for the upcoming U series earlier today -- let's talk about it a bit more in one place. 1) We anticipate performance pretty well on-par with the Z v.3 series for $120-140 less at MAP depending on size. This series is intended to both replace the Z v.3 & bridge the price gap from the SA to the X v.2 series. 2) In terms of the magnet slug itself -- it's identical to the Z v.3 series. The top plate is not as thick nor is the back plate. This is a double stacked 220mm x 25mm magnet stack. 3) We have included several new distortion reduction techniques & cooling enhancements in this motor vs the Z v.3 (after all the Z v.3 is 5 years old). 4) It uses the SAME coil as the X v.2 series -- so thermally is every bit as capable & shares the same RMS rating of 1500-watts. 5) In terms of sound & box requirements it will fall identically with the Z v.3 series. This means SMALL boxes and for 10s & 12s pretty exclusively ported -- 15s & 18s will be fine in a 4th order. 6) In terms of stiffness it is SLIGHTLY less stiff than the Z v.3 in stock format. The spider for the 10/12" models is a new tooling -- the geometry & stiffness of the 15/18 spiders is shared with the X-10/12 respectively. Naturally custom re-cones will be available if yours needs to be re-built in the future. 7) We will NOT be building these in-house (other than re-cones) since we are completely maxed out on production capacity with the other lines at this time. As with all of our other factory made lines each unit will still be QC checked by our staff in-house in the USA before going out to the customer. ETA is pending. I should physically have my prototypes soon to do testing. If I had to estimate release date now I'd say January 2017 or so. At this time I am not sure if ALL sizes will launch at one time -- worst case 12s & 15s will come first. I have completed the pricing for the U series -- it is as follows.
