03 Xtreme Fosgate Posted November 4, 2013 Report Posted November 4, 2013 I'd rather have the eBay alt over the Iraggi from what I've read & heard about them. contact excessive amperage alternates as well, he makes some nice alts. tacomaguy1 Posted November 4, 2013 Report Posted November 4, 2013 I have a mechman 150 amp on my 96 4runner. I would have gone with a 240 but did not want belt slip. Keep in mind that there are no options for drive pulley replacements since all three belts are driven off the crankshaft pulley. With only three ribs, anything higher than 150 will slip a lot. My 150 slips if my car sits about a week. I can tighten it up more, but it is already pretty tight. Charging 6 batteries with a 150 will put a lot of strain on the alt. What motor? I have a 270xp from DC on my Tacoma and its a beast alt. Kept up with 11kWas charging 7 3100s just fine Sorry I wasn't following this post I have a 5vz You have any slip issues with the 270? no belt issues Team Flex Issues

HHR Ed Posted November 5, 2013 Report Posted November 5, 2013 You can get a nice Mechman for about the $500 mark. You would just need to know the year make/ model and engine size and that would determine which size alt they have that can fit. Can be 200A- 270A depending. Maybe they are making some good alts now but apparently weren't before? Either way I'm not worried about it,I'm using a 300 amp EA alt and very pleased, plus he's only 30 min away from so if I have a problem with mine it's simple to get fixed.
