audiofanaticz Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 what model super tweets? No real point to send the things out for a recone, normally its a 2-4 screws that hold the horn to the magnet, once screws removed you pull the 2 pieces apart which exposes the diaphragm that is held on by 2 screws, remove that, put the new one in and install screws and its done. There is no shimming of a coil, soldering or anything, its a 3 minute job, 5 tops if you turn a screwdriver slow. lol From what I recall crescendo dont even ofter new diaphragms for their older XST2 super tweeters, but there is actually a better diaphragm on partsexpress.com for like $11 that is a bit stronger then the factory ones used, and sound a bit cleaner. Hopefully your problem gets straightened out, but for future reference you can do it yourself with ease and not be without a speaker for a couple days
White Lightning Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 WOW ... First I've ever heard about being able to "recone" a tweeter ... Ive nevered soldered so im kinda afraid to do it lol I might though... kinda tempting to just have the tweet shipped back to me and order a ft1 diaphram 2006 Ford Explorer 2 Team AA/Sundown 15s 6th order Ct Sounds 7k 4 PRV Mr500 8s Rockford p1000-2 Team Subsonic Lows
Rmichael91 Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 Solderings really easy if you take your time and do it right. Its just a time consuming process compared to using a crimper in some cases.
Soccerballzs Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 I do not use any tweeter that cannot be repaired. Selenium has tweeters with drop in coils. SLAYER1805 Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 You're in car audio and you've never soldered before? Time to change that sir

Soldering isn't time consuming if it's with smaller wires, but when you're doing 0 gauge or something, that shit takes time.
Chris Hammer Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 Happened to me several times, just on the other side of the problem. Bought a bunch of wire multiple times from Sky High on ebay and they kept delivering to a city about 2hrs form me and I never got it. The post office pretty much told me its too bad and they couldnt help. I called the local office down there the guy tried to help but said due to policy he cant tell me the exact address it was left at. Sky High still made it right and got me my wire. Dont understand hwo they deliver 100 package sto my address through ebay then send several somewhere else.
