Amp Ground Length ?

Recommended Posts

Is it ok to have a 5 to 8 ft ground ? basicly im trying to clean up my all wiring in the back of my truck. Shits all over the place and it looks like a rats nest.

there would be like 4 to 5 ft of 4ofc( at The furthest amp) to a distro block to 3 ft of 0 ofc to frame.

Thanks

Shorter the better, but ive had them ~14ft before with no error. Just make sure the wire is overkill for the amplifier.

Eh, ... I have always been shown/taught ... (& have bulit as such) ... that unless you are running your GND/NEG all the way from your front BATT with your POS runs, then your AMP GNDs should be 12-18" long, & really no longer ... even if they go into a distro box, & out from there to a chassis GND point. I do not think many folks are going to stand behind 5-foot-plus AMP GND lenghts ...

No way you can ground AMP, or each AMP, separately to within 18" directly to the chassis of your vehicle?

EDIT: Like the guys said above, ... & as was my point(s), ... the shorter the GNDs anywhere, the better.

I could, i was just trying not to punch another hole in the floor..If i have to i will though..

Where are you planning on installing? There might be a good bolt already in the truck.. I got lucky with my car. I used one of the factory bolt locations as an additional ground my rear battery.

I plan on building a rack just behind the driver/pass seat on the floor. all the power ground is on drivers side.Seat bolts wont come out, heard it wasent a good ground anyway..Im just going punch a hole and go to the frame i think it will be best

ground distance means nothing. i regularly use a 3-6ft length for ground. good grounding point means the most. test every point you are considering using.

if nothing changes, nothing changes
