Why do higher rms subs get louder than lower rms subs with the same excursion?

Why do you think excursion is what loud is?

so, if a driver throws 11 feet, that is louder?

hmmmm...... interesting.

hahaah, especially when in my truck at 50hz, they move and inch and do a 55+, but at 30 they move 2 inches and does a 52....... movement = teh loudz

At (REAL) tune, your diver would work LEAST, but, this is where your port DOES.

think op is asking

2 sub both 12" both 30mm xmas, except one is 2000rms rated other is 3000rms rated,

there is a lot more then that, and the 3000rms sub may not be louder then the 2000rms

the install will play the biggest part

thats pretty much what i was asking.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

Almost everything you need to know is BL²/Re. (and mass of the moving parts.)

The better the BL²/Re and the lower the moving mass, the louder you can get on equal power.( and offcourse cone area is important, but it almost makes too much sense to say it)

Thinking is the root of all problems...

You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
