mbdblue
interesting.....it sounds like that shop may just be a nice place to work. Just don't expect to build any big systems...unless your in a city, not many people want to spend that kind of money let alone have that much bass. Worked for a shop a little under a year; learned it was not for me (at least under that kind of management). On a side note, I feel like any place would be nice to work with a solid group of people working for and owning the company. Unfortunately, it seems that is very difficult to find. Awhitewookie
id NEVER do it.. fuck, you put a remote start in, and they get a flat tire? its your fault. Fuck that Welcome to my world.... "It wasnt doing that before it came in" Me: Mam while your car was here the battery died and needs a new one. Lady: What the battery was fine when I took it in. Me: By the date that is on the battery its over 5yrs old and its over 100* out this summer. Try being part of.management at a jiffy lube man. Everything, fucking EVERYTHING gets blamed on us. Just today, some lady tried to file a claim about us leaving her transmission plug loose and it leaking causing her tranny to lock up and go out. She took it to a shop and they told her that. Well guess what bitch, if it doesnt have a transmission dipstick to check the fluid, we dont touch it. Oil pan drain plug and filter only... Eat it. I know what its like. Luckly I dont run into it very often but I does happen.. Had a someone blame a cracked windshield before. Also a nail in the tire. "well it was in your shop last and it wasnt like that before" Mind you the customer already took their car and called the next day. Fuck it ill fix your tire for free.. But the whole time Im thinking WTF Really? LOL Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born. My penis is bigger than your penis I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle. bbeljefe
bb you need to hire me! but I've applied to ever audio shop around me and have been turned down. one because i don't tune by ear and 2 because i don't know how to install car starters (yet) i have.almost 200 installs under my belt but because i don't have that piece of paper i get the Shaft! but they hire kids that don't know what a big 3 is... i wanna move! good luck man live my dream until i can get out of NY! Remote starts and alarms are cake man, especially today. When I started in the business there was no such thing as a website that gave you EVERY wire color and its location in any given car. Of course, there were also no remote starts... but they did come along not long after I started, lol. But to be serious, I would love to hire someone who is young & likes to do wiring. Of everything I do in car audio, pulling wire and connecting it to anything is my least favorite part. It's not something I hate to do but I've done it in cars, houses, commercial buildings, boats, deer camps, etc and there's just nothing new about it for me, lol. Rather, I'm happiest at my shop when I'm either talking to someone about what they want/need or when I'm covered head to toe in dust from cutting, sanding or painting something. Hugh G. Rection
Unless you own the shop, don't expect to make much money thats the big thing to know, right there. most of the time youll make 50% of the labor charge if your an installer. most shop owners will also want you to help make sales and such, but dont expect any money from that.
