bigsausagepizza
Does anyone have any experience with this line of subs? For the 12 they claim 31mm Xmax on only 300W, how is that possible? Oh, it gets even better than that, this is a shallow mount sub, and is has a mounting depth of only 75mm. I'm highly skeptical of these specs, since the only subs I've seen in the 30mm Xmax range are ~1500+ rms. Krakin
Because, x-max = loud. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. SnowDrifter
Well xmax is a measure of the coil's linearity as it travels through the magnetic gap. I suppose it is possible to have an xmax that is greater than the mechanical limits of the sub Can it have a 31mm xmax? Sure. But it's meaningless. Especially on a 300w sub. You'd need to have some SERIOUS loading issues to be able to get the sub to move that much on 300w. ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
