RooTxBeeR Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 So I did search and I couldn't find crap. Either the search engine is crap or I am stupid. Maybe a little of both? lol. Anyways, I was looking into getting a remote start, and I don't feel like paying $450 for a shop to do it. I see units starting from $100-$200 and I can do that. What exactly all has to be done to install a remote start. My mom wanted one, and I said I would look into how to do it. But I realized she has a car with a keyless ignition so that was way out of my expertise. My car however is a normal key start. 2004 Ford Escape XLT. Is putting a remote start all just wiring up a device to specific wires? Or is there way more to it? Is this something someone with basic to moderate car audio knowledge can tackle alone? Marquisboys Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 basically just wiring the device to specific wires. should be all under the steering column. It may take a couple hours if its your first time but it can be pretty straight forward and it will save you a lot of money 2004 Grand MarquisAA Mayhem 18Crescendo 3500d6.5's AQ Pro AudioAQ Super TweetsImage Dynamics 6x9Soundqubed 125.4MB Quart 80.4144.2 db GONZO 2013 Chrysler 300S Granite Crystal Metallic Exterior Inferno Red Interior 5.7 HEMI AWD LMI Air Hammer Intake Corsa exhaust Custom Tune
RayRosales Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 i bought a simple security and auto lock unlock viper system... got it on sale for 50 dollars from sonic electronix, and got it in the mail and realized it was to many wires for me to even fuck with, took it too a shop and they took good care of me! about 40 dollars to put it in, defiantly worth it, but the only problem ive came across, is one of my remotes is messed up, the light still goes off when you press a button, but doesn't unlock or have any effect on the car, but other then that id highly recommend viper.. You should call a few shops and see the prices for it to be put in, then if that's too much check out the site commando car alarms, has all the wiring diagrams you need to run a security and remote start system TEAM PRESSURED LOWS 2000 Dodge Durango 6 Sundown SA 15s 6th Order B-Pillar Wall Sundown Audio XS Power Batteries Mechman Alternators

MaxVolume Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 viper is THE big brand name in alarms, and you will pay for it i bought a compustar and it does everything i need and more at a fraction the price of entry vipers the issue with remote starts is there's no wiggle room... it works or it doesn't you have to read the instruction manual ten times, locate all vehicle wires, and after its all hooked up.... go back and diode things that don't act right this pertains more to systems with alarm integration as well... but not recommended for beginners be careful... connect the wrong wire or without proper diodes and you can fry a computer... not cheap...

Keith77 Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 if you dont know what you are doing its not easy. Does your car have a pass lock (key with a chip in it)? If so that makes it much harder Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born. My penis is bigger than your penis I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.
mothra Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 they are simple, i can knock out most cars in a few hours. it's just tapping a few wires than splice 1 or 2, hide the module. also don't use a hood pin, use a tilt switch. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
RooTxBeeR Posted December 10, 2014 Author Report Posted December 10, 2014 Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm key has a chip in it. I'm also not worried about a security alarm, there's one built in that I'm fine with.
