Wicks
do caps ever die like batteries or do they last longer? Caps can be drained all the way to 0V so you can't "kill" them by draining too much charge. They do have a rated life like anything else, but it depends on the the quality of the part and the usage it gets. I've tested normal electrolytic caps that are 30 years old and they tested out better then some new parts I've purchased. The two biggest enemies of caps are heat and over-voltage. Things should get very interesting in the next few months. A good competitor to Maxwell will be great for pricing....and to further drive the technology. Excited to see where this goes! 4 Quote This post sent with 100% recycled electrons. 2004 BMW M3Mechman 280A 2 - XS Power XP30001 - XS Power D375 500F of Maxwell SuperCaps (soon to be 1000F) iPadMini2Dash mounted O-scopeAudison bitOne (Remote DRC MP) Highs Amp - PPI Art A404 Hertz HSK130 (HSK165 waiting...) scooter99
I think for me the part that makes me nervous is the unknown. The fact that I don't completely understand them. How do you know how many you need, etc? Do you replace batteries with them, or if you had batteries would you run them along with those batteries? Stuff like that. If you're replacing a battery with these, say you had a D7500, how many would you need to equal that? I won't like, I saw this on facebook yesterday too, and I thought "hm xs power came out with an energy drink". You know like NOS did. LOL OH RIGHT, Like none of you thought the same thing!!! 6 Quote Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build

Krakin
Hmm. OMG an electronic device that looks the same as another on the outside! Must be the exact same thing! 3 Quote Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener. The usual supercap used is the Maxwell 3000F 2.7V. 6 are required in series to be able to function in a 14V vehicle environment. The 3000F Maxwells are rated each at about 200A of max continuous current draw. Current in series is the same so a bank of 6 are still restricted to that ~200A (max continuous). 1900A peak. So to be safe, you'd want at least one bank for every 200A of current your system consumes. If you have an amp which draws 1000A, then 1000/200=5 banks would give you a very safe buffer. More banks will naturally give you more energy capacity. It's difficult to do an apples-apples comparison of batteries to caps as they are very different creatures. Batteries store TONS of energy while caps can store and release current very quickly. It also depends on what you use them for....burping or demoing. If in doubt..........just get 32 banks (192 caps) like AMI has.... 5 Quote This post sent with 100% recycled electrons. 2004 BMW M3Mechman 280A 2 - XS Power XP30001 - XS Power D375 500F of Maxwell SuperCaps (soon to be 1000F) iPadMini2Dash mounted O-scopeAudison bitOne (Remote DRC MP) Highs Amp - PPI Art A404 Hertz HSK130 (HSK165 waiting...)
