They also take into account the age of your credit so someone that's held a high score for say 10 years is looked at as much better than someone who has had it for a year. you could even actually fair better with a lower score if you've maintained it longer. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. I brought mine up from a 498 to a current 707 in almost a year now, just from making all payments on time and paying an auto and personal loan off and getting my cards down. I'll be 22 in April. It's possible. My score was fucked for over a year before I got caught up.
